Personal attacks are wrong but passions run very high during a match for players and true fans, both over step the mark from time to time.

I just dont see the difference in abusing someone personally for being fat or insulting them for being black. both are wrong, but you only get arrested for one of them.
I am a manager and consultant in a large IT firm, and by most people standards have a very good salary - but no where in my job description does it say "take personal insults and get on with it" - and Bruce earning 40k a week (or whatever) shouldnt have to take it either.

Bruce is fat, hes a geordie and he has a squashed nose. To say piss off you fat, big nosed geordie bastard isn't illegal nor is it racist, its descriptive.

I have never shouted for Bruce's head but like most I am becoming increasingly in favour of a change. We are playing poorly and need to act, however I will never lower myself to spouting such poisonous abuse at anyone.
You may well think such things are simply "name calling" and don't cause any harm. Maybe you wouldn't take offence and maybe the money would cushion such abuse. But whether he is offended or not doesn't take away from the fact that it is simply wrong to subject anyone to this.
Lets not listen to this bollocks that Bruce is an undercover Geordie trying to screw us up. He is a thoroughly decent man who is desperate for us to succeed. Unfortunately he increasingly looks like he wont be able to do this and may well lose his job but come on fellas, lets show that we don't follow to the standards of our Geordie neighbours.

Being black can also be used as a descriptive, but you are not allowed to do so as it is racist. why should "fat" be any different? If you abuse fat people, or ginger people (for example) then you a abusing an entire group of people based on one physical characteristic. Thats wrong, and I cant see how you can defend it.

Shouting personal abuse is out of order, chanting for the manager to be sacked is fair comment but personal abuse is wrong. What does that say about us as fans?
