Absolutely correct. BUT our first priority under this SMT is reducing losses, NOT building a squad to get out of L1 quickly. Given the stated restrictions, the only way to reduce losses is player sales. It’s not rocket science.
And right on cue…… https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/spor...-improved-bid-for-charlton-striker-alfie-may/
Confirmation on the OS of DP’s earlier post…. https://www.charltonafc.com/news/conor-mcgrandles-rejoins-lincoln-city No loss (if he’s replaced with better).
An excellent decision to get rid of little McGrandles Scott Fraser & Terry Taylor (who) next please ….
If Huddersfield really have bid £800,000 for May & are willing to increase it , I can’t see him staying.
Comedy Gold elsewhere , with the Sage of Bexley claiming that Alfie May has bought a whole street of terraced houses in Dartford, and definitely won’t be leaving. Given such a cast iron reassurance from such an impeccable source, shall we close this thread ?
Interesting the way the financials over Alfie May have mysteriously found their way into the public domain today. It’s no way to run a football club, and in the long run will bite all involved in it on their arses. You lay down with a dog, expect to catch their fleas.
I'm not sure the prefix 'to be fair' applies though. Selling our Player of the Year is an atrocious habit that should always infuriate fans, not be passively accepted as just one of those things. I've heard these owners are supposed to be different? Cannot see any evidence of that at all. Our decline continues. At this rate it will be League Two football in 2025-26.
The Charlton habit is to sell our players and replace with inferior ones or not at all - if Alfie goes we can at least give this lot a chance to do the right thing and replace him with someone better - personally I’d rather keep him though
One way the club could fund transfers this summer is by introducing a Bullshit Tax on a certain forum. The poster has to pay £5 each time he makes something up and passes it off as a fact or ITK info. CAFC would have enough to buy Harry Kane within 24 hours.
I agree with all that BUT, they have already had the chance to improve the team with better players and they haven’t. To replace Alfie with someone better is going to cost us somewhere near £1M and there is ZERO evidence that this lot will ever pay that much for a player. ZERO. If it happens then I’d happily say that they have changed, but unless we are going to put our hopes on blind faith then in all probability it simply won’t happen.
Nathan Jones only joined us on the 4th of Feb , after the window had shut , this is the first window he’s been involved in as manager so I’ll judge after this window - I’m pretty sure he’s got more clout and backing than any of the previous coaches had with these owners and SMT ….. let’s see where we are when the window shuts
