Please please, put an end to this whole debacle if need be give it back to reidy for a year.
At least he would Sack off dodds and proccy.
Get it Sack off. SACKO

I would bet Blond Bombshell's tent on Dodds and Proctor doing better than Peter Reid with identical squads.

I don't have any kind of affinity to Dodds and Proctor beyond hearing Dodds is a handy coach. I'd go as far to say I'm highly suspicious of Proctor's ability and entirely convinced Dodds cannot head coach but the game has moved on.

Reid and Saxton would not be able to handle modern footballers.

This is very much the case. I have a real world example of this, which I won't go into, but I believe this to be true. And that's not necessarily a criticism of managers of their generation.

You'll be hard pushed to find someone who doesn't agree with that.

I'm as sick as anyone but it's not certain that it's a shambles.

If the Still story is correct he's done as much, if not more, to delay this procedure.

Until we know who's the new manager we won't really know what degree of 'shambolic' this merits.

For example, if it's Cifuentes it may be that QPR refused permission to talk, at first, but he's put pressure on them to allow it.

If he was one of our preferred choices that might explain a lot ...

... and at the moment we're all just guessing on the back off snippets, how I've begun to hate snippets <laugh>

I loved that era but always felt it was built on sand, adrenalin and a drinking culture ...

... much like my entire life <laugh>

Right, off to work while the sun shines.

I think there's an element of 'Football Manager' creeping in whereby people are transferring their 'skills' into real life.

There can't just be A Style, set in stone, because you have to play against visiting teams that may come to park the bus or press high.

Then you have to go away and adapt to the opposition ... some teams are PL, some L1 in their styles and ability ... you have to play differently if you're winning/losing/drawing ... you sometimes have to change style to cope with the loss of players to suspension/injury/sale or when a tactic/player has 'been sussed' and the opposition 'double up' or whatever.

That's why I'd like a manager who can think on his feet and not just carry on regardless ...

... otherwise the choice of manager is obvious <laugh>

How many people here saw this photo and instantly heard his laugh?

I mentioned before that I asked their fans about him (https://www.not606.com/threads/rosenior-to-sunderland.413023/page-2) and the responses are a real mixed bag, some loved him and some clearly didn’t.

The comments below though were what I found most bothersome and concerning at a time when I’d desperately like, above almost anything, for our fanbase to be united (it can be a powerful force when it is):

When some of you start questioning what you're seeing, he'll split your fan base by exclaiming the fans don't understand what he's trying to do etc. Somewill lap that up and look down on the others, who will continue to question it because it won't change. The rift will grow and you'll end up with constant bickering... Unless your fan base is unanimous that top of the league for own third and own half possession is a good thing.

Talks a great game, he’s a great salesman. Manages to convince some people they’ve seen what he tells them they’ve seen.
About 30% of our online fan base are absolute tit ends anyway

Comparing eras is fraught with impossibilities in my opinion. For example, had Maradonna, or Best, been born now they would still have been the best in the world and ever. It is because they had innate natural talent. Others the same. They would have been a product of their environment, with the sort of physical dedication they see now. Others, who relied more on sheer determination, say a Bryan Robson (who I loved) may have found todays game harder to dominate in the way he did.

Managers are the same. Reidy's style probably wouldnt work now. But then I belive, for example, Bob Paisley would thrive in this modern world. He was so good with players. Bobby Robson would thrive today too, I have no doubt. He had a tactical brain that would make some of these modern coaches run for the hills.

Totally agree with you. Some of my favourite ever players were in that team with Schwartz my top man, he did so much without complaint for that team. My main point was that Quinny was the focal point and once he couldn't carry on anymore, I think Reid struggled to replicate his influence. Plus it seems that he fell out with some players which wouldn't have helped
Signing Flo to replace him was a strange one. Despite his height, he wasn't the same type of player as Quinny.
