I would be patient if were you mate: these things don't happen over night. I would imagine the club get thousands of letters, so to expect a reply within a week, regardless of the very worthy cause, may be asking too much.. Keep at it though, and I'm sure you will get there eventually...
You're probably right to be fair mate, it's the fact that i'm away from Sunday that makes it more pressing, i guess if all else fails, i can pick it up when i get back. Would be a big thing to get the club on-side though, massive.
Goog luck BruceysBeak: You don't seem like the kind of person who will give up an a worthy cause easily..
I read on PF (don't laugh) that if one writes a letter addressed to one of the Directors, it has a decent chance of being read. It's more formal than an email, I suppose. Perhaps if we don't get a reply by end of next week, we can go down that road?
It's also more likely that they'll read a hand-written letter, as they know before they open it it's less likely to be junk mail.
Hi Brucie i have a load of ideas but still waiting for Ballin to ok it cos i dont want to jump without him. 1 contacting the echo we already had that idea 2 asking the official Sunderland shops in the town and washington to put collection boxes in for us 3 checking with the royal mail to see if they would do it for free 4 if it costs us find out how much and ask the lads for a quid donation to cover the cost 5 getting some one on the Sunderland side to put these matters in hand a volunteer 6 trying to get some one famous to donate a shirt with press and a load of pics. IE Mensa Gyan sess muntari danny as long as they are of African decent. 7 getting our lads to send the African boys a message on facebook or whatever. 8 having a sugestions page for ideas from our 606ers. What do you think.
All fantastic idea's Roger, like the idea of a suggestions page. We're asking for help here lads and lasses, if anyone of you out there has connections or know's a friend of a friend in the Echo, the Club, Club Shops, Local Radio stations, Post Office, etc, etc, please don't be shy, come forward, we need your help to keep this momentum going.
Better start of for a voulenteer, from our 606 site to step up and co-ordinate for us as we are both out of the country, so if anyone wants to put their name forward be my guest ill paste this message on the Africa thread also
Let's go for it Roger. The most important thing will be to get the NE journos on our side, everything will be easier afterwards. Will tweet Caulkin and a few others, asking for a re-tweet, to spread the word. *EDIT* Just had my message with a link to the Sunderland AFC in Africa thread re-tweeted by Paul Fraser, will tweet the rest of the lot tomorrow.
