I'd beg to differ, I'd say about a ratio of nine in ten Sunderland fans had no idea who he was before Mowbray got the bullet. The footy manager thing is old now and nowhere near his actual story. Also, people had definitely heard of him before Mowbray, it also makes no difference anyway. Everyone just wants someone in, and he is at least highly regarded it seems so better than most of the usual suspects, and certainly better than Beale.

If he's a cunning linguist!gets you a tick in the box
I think more had probably heard of Beale because of his previous gigs in the EFL.We had someone claim they hadnt heard of Michael Beale despite him being manager of Rangers so hardly a yardstick
Probably true, but he was being hyped in the football press long before Mowbray was sacked. There were interviews in the Guardian and FourFourTwo at the start of 2023 and I'd seen a least a couple of pieces on TV about the same time. He might not have been widely known but the hype surrounding him was building long before there was any acknowledged interest from SAFC.I'd beg to differ, I'd say about a ratio of nine in ten Sunderland fans had no idea who he was before Mowbray got the bullet.
Just hope he's successful if it happens here, obviously I hope he fails miserably anywhere else in England if he does come back to Blighty.Probably true, but he was being hyped in the football press long before Mowbray was sacked. Who’s this Beale feller you’re talking about, never heard of him!We had someone claim they hadnt heard of Michael Beale despite him being manager of Rangers so hardly a yardstick
The football manager thing is annoyinh as f**k, think he said himself that he hates people mentioning that. Hes worked hard to get where he is and has had success at every club hes been at - thats got nothing to do with playing football managerI'd be happy with Still if all the hype translated into positive results. Said it before, I'll say it again, literally nobody had a clue who he was up until Mowbray got pedalled. FFS, I got Hartlepool to the Premier league on footy manager, doesn't make me an automatic candidate for da job.

Good news for us if Corberan is out of the league.

Corberan to Still would be a seamless transition I think. Wouldn't be surprised.not if West Brom fancy Still![]()
ginger island ?Upthere on RTG - "I think Still’s decision rests on a TV deal happening in France"
Is a weird situation that, they have no domestic broadcast deal in place for the upcoming season. I think if that gets sorted then the financial issues for Lens probably go away. Makes sense.Upthere on RTG - "I think Still’s decision rests on a TV deal happening in France"
I hope we've moved on from him a long time agoI get the feeling Still isn’t keen on both ourselves and Lens.
