I personally like Jobe deep. Give him the ball facing the goal and let him progress it forward either with a pass or by carrying it himself. Look at his goal vs Plymouth for example. I don't think his back to goal game is good enough for the 9 or the 10 positions in a possession heavy side, could see him as a 9 or a 10 in a counter attacking side though.

Jobe looks like an 8 to me, he's not quite as quick-footed or skilful as you'd like to see for a 10 and we've not really seen him play as a 6 that much, but he seems to be a balanced midfielder which suggests an 8, a bit of both.

Was just about to say, his hold up play is poor, goes down far too much and gets robbed far too easily. That can be improved of course. The main worry for me is his general slowness. Seen milk turn quicker in all honesty.

It's my theory that he's slow because he's not yet used to lugging around his frame and will get sharper. Looks like the mind is willing but the body isn't quite in sync.

Wouldn't be the end of the world if he never becomes quick as long as he learns how to use his strength effectively, but I expect him to speed up with time and training.

Is that your theory or have you read that somewhere before?

"Then my former teammate Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, from Borussia Dortmund. And finally, my brother Jobe, a thoroughbred striker like our father."

Jude when asked who will win the golden boy award over the next few years

I don’t see it personally. His movement is alright but he’s quite slow, finishing isn’t great and you wouldn’t back him in a 1v1 situation. Scoring tap ins is only one part of the equation imo. If he was as good of a 9 as we’d like to think he is then why have we all been crying out for a striker all season when he’s played the majority of it there. Difficult one to be honest I’ve still no idea what his best position is

It's my theory, why?

I think Jobe is still getting used to his body, sometimes when kids go through growth spurts it can take them a while to fit into the new body, I feel like he gets the ball caught under his long spidery legs quite often, is then pushed from the back and either loses the ball or wins a freekick, depending on how the ref is feeling that day.

Also I think his acceleration is a bit slow, which might be related to his long legs, note that when he gets upto speed he is actually a very powerful and pacey runner with good speed.

I’d sell him for a big offer, but happy to keep him for another season to see if I’m right.

Not sure myself. Said earlier we have a lot of generalists who need to nail down their best position/role and he is one of them.

From what I've seen there might be a forward there, just not sure what sort.

Still so damn young.

I am getting worried about the time taken. Have been for a while, but this last week hasnt been positive. I thought after the weekend we would see some relatively quick news.

I think we are heading into the territory of harming our own chances next season now. Players are choosing where to play right now. Players want a coach to talk to before making a decision. In particular experienced ones. They interviee the coach on how he sees them fitting in, their demands expectations etc.

Rigg delaying, if true, is no great surprise. Who on here would sign a contract if you didnt know who your boss was going to be?

Time is ticking away fast...

There's a reason sprinters start winning medals in their 20's. You could be right.

However, I might have just made that up about sprinters. So you could be wrong.

Does anyone know much about that Challinor - seeing a few say his football was class at Stockport

Got the world at his feet mate I really rate him. Going to be an absolute powerhouse the rate he’s growing too

Only thing that worries me about Chalinor is how long he spent on non league football. He’s been decent at Stockport but they do have a sizeable budget. Almost gets forgotten about because of Wrexham but they’re in a fairly comfortable financial position themselves, remember them signing Paddy Madden from Fleetwood when he was their top scorer in L1 and they were in non-league.
