Is this purely Speakman or is KLD adamant with this strategy and Speakman is just following? If the former then he just needs to go, was on thin ice after the second half of last season undone a lot of his prior good work but if we repeat the Beale fiasco after having over 3 months to get it right, then its untenable for speakman.

this is the question for me. I’d love to know whether KLD is happy with Speakman or whether he’s as angry about this as me.

I’m having a meltdown about it and I’m happy to admit it. I’m furious.

I think I’ve been incredibly fair to Speakman and KLD continuously. I’ve given them the benefit of the doubt always.

having the national media reporting our first choice candidate has turned us down due to investment and staffing concerns is I think worse PR then many may think. We are about to try to sign several footballers but have had a very very public show that we aren’t the place to be.

this is genuinely worst case scenario for the club. Instead of being able to just brush off Still and pretend he was one of several candidates, they now have stories in the national media that he was close and turned us down for reasons that’s make us look unattractive.

so yeh I’m having a meltdown. I’m not even ashamed to admit it.

my ideal scenario now is that we bring Maric in. I’d even settle for having him with Dodds as first team coach. But Speakman has to go. And I don’t think I’m going to change my mind on that even if he pulls a Steve Cooper out the bag.
100% bang on mate, how on earth Speakman survives this I do not know, he will though

did you watch the shambles when they were in charge man why are they so untouchable name one good reason
One good reason, they were asked to step in until the end of the season, which is what they did, they didn’t ask to step up. They were doing a great job where they were. If you can’t see that I may as well be talking to a turnip.

Whoever we go cap in hand to now is gonna have us by the short and curlys

Thats the really worrying bit. Anyone coming in will know they weren't first choice so will need to try and win over the fans...but we will also all just think the bloke in charge is another yes man.

What a mess.

Speculation again, we have no idea who the manager is going to be or if these issues are actually issues
I dunno what else to say, if you don’t believe it fair play but to me it points to a total **** show behind the scenes like it has been since December.

Actual proper reputable journalists are saying they are the issues. We are never going to hear from Still or the club about why he didn't come here and I think you know that. The best we are going to get is journalists saying so.

Yes but journalists also get a lot of things wrong

Will Still & Sunderland: appears over, barring late u-turn. Staff/investment concerns for Still. Means S’land enter June without manager since Feb 19. No way to run a club who’ve sold 31,000 2024-25 season tickets - an almost surreal number. Serious questions re succession plan
