Your position on this has changed quite a bit in the past few months.
Not long ago you were saying we should sign a player permanently instead of Werner for upwards of £15m, despite the effect that would have on Moore's progress.
Now you're saying we shouldn't sign anyone out of fear of hindering Moore's progress.
Which is it?
I see this as a very sensible way to secure Moore's development. It doesn't thrust a huge burden on him to be Son's understudy at the age of 16/17. It allows him to spend more time in and among the first team, making sub appearances when required.
Solomon remains an unknown quantity. We only caught glimpses of what he can do. For all we know, he's actually not that good and/or won't ever be the same player again after a really bad injury, two procedures and multiple setbacks.
The alternative is spending money on an upgrade on Werner who may or may not turn out to be better than the German, but will almost certainly get in the way of Moore not just this season but for the duration of their contract. And in the event that they don't get in his way, that will likely indicate that they were a complete waste of money.
I mean you’ve completely misread anything I’ve said because just a few posts above you’ll even see my reply to King and notice I’ve said I’d have zero issues signing players that genuinely elevate us and understandably block the pathway for young a player.
Werner isn’t one of those players. Instead he helps blocks the pathway of Moore/ Santiago, picks up £165k a week in the process and by the end of the season we’ll no doubt have another compilation of his laughable misses.
But feel free to try putting words into my mouth to score points
