No real surprises on that list for me. Don’t post a lot these days so Playing catch up here so can only assume the BigTurk has made those final decisions then as the new gaffs won’t have seen any of them perform yet surely ..or did LR have any input in the retaining list prior to his unexpected departure? UTT.
Agreed. Players need time to adapt to the level, gentle introductions. Vaughan will have another pre-season with us this year and a good loan will do him the world of good.
I think people understandably don't realise the relative ages of some of these players. Simons and Vaughan are both younger than Harvey Cartwright, Tom Nixon, Harry Wood and Will Jarvis are. Those two have a lot of time on their side.
Vaughan is a similar stature to Harvey Elliot, albeit not as stocky. Thats what i would be telling him to work on over the next 12 months
Vaughan is 16 months younger than Jarvis and whilst Simons is only two months younger, it actually does make a significant difference because it means he qualifies as an U21 player for the coming season while Jarvis doesn't, and would therefore have to be named in our 25 man squad to be able to play any part. But in any case, the point was really just that a couple of the young players who've had first team football are actually younger than some of the players that we still think of as academy players, so time is on their side.
