Yes, I do. Most supporters, say over the last 40 years have seen it all before.

You appoint a head coach because they can judge first team football better than someone who hasn’t led a side

Of course but they have to play a style that is set by those above, and a style that suits the players the recruitment team has brought in.

It's a big reason I want Speakman removed, the club is not aligned, recruitment doesn't suit the coaches we have brought in and people aren't suited to the roles they are in.

Playing style I can understand, having a style will help integrate youth players when they are ready for that step up. Same goes for players coming back from injury, they can slot into the u23 games etc.

Being involved in player selection is the main issue, and game by game adjustments in tactics.

I’d be fuming, way too similar to a Dodds type appointment.

Maybe the club have their man and are tying up the loose ends on the rest of his backroom team? They might not all be at the same club together so will need individual negotiations? Just a thought

Dodds, Proctor, Barcherini, whoever is in charge of the data now considering we clearly aren't using it anymore, Beale was not a tactical or cultural fit, Harvey I have doubts over, then just how we are going about the search for a new coach with KLD apparently being heavily involved.

I like and am a supporter of the system we are trying to implement at the club, just don't think we are doing it correctly.

Thats my thought as well, a lot of leagues still ongoing so could be that either the head coach or their coaches seasons are still.ongoing

The playing style and the culture needs to be sorted when appointing the coach surely. If the idea is that we want to play an attacking,free-flowing style, there is little point in employing a Mourinho,a Conte,a Moyes or a Southgate. Similarly futile in appointing a Warnock or an Allardyce. If we get the right coach, the DoF should be able to let him get on with match by match preparation. Life is never that simple though. In a completely hypothetical situation, let's suppose that we identified a young up and coming star we can acquire for little outlay, and whose value we estimate could be £60m in 3 years time, and we'd want to cash in,but,in order to get him we have to contractually guarantee him games,....if he's fit,he plays scenario. However,if the coach doesn't think he's playing well enough and is affecting the team performance,he wants to drop him. There's a conflict right there.

<laugh> **** that. Although I do believe he should’ve been ahead of Dodds and Proctor in the last few months.

Agreed with regard to Beale, despite my defence of him. Surely Dodds would be a better fit if he was back in original role?

Thats what I mean with Dodds, he's apparently superb at his original role but we've damaged him and his reputation so much by promoting him that many just want him flat out gone from the club.

In the European way of doing things, the culture comes from higher up in the organisation. In most cases the DoF or equivalent, and that runs through the entire club, at every level. The coach is appointed on his suitability to fit into that culture. Changing the coach therefore causes limited disruption. Or, at least, that is the theory.

I think you're right, in the scenario that you highlight, there is the potential for conflict. However, I'd imagine if you're used to working under those conditions, you know how to negotiate such situations.

Its not really that different to how British clubs operated up until the 1940s and in some cases in to the 1960s.
