Anyone think Acun might try incredibly hard to get Delap and keep Greaves in a sort of 'its not Rosenior its me who attracts the players' kind of act? Not that it is an act of course but i can see him trying to keep the squad together as much as he can to get an attacking manager in and prove himself right. Much like the Giles situation, I think part of Acun wanting to make it permanent (unless it was an obligation) is that if he bags 10 assists next year its an obvious show that he was right to bin Rosie
I think he will try to do exactly what he thinks is best for our club. Simple as. I don't think he needs to, wants to, or will play such games. Simple as. Direct Line. End of drama.
I like to think that Acun, as a very highly successful businessman is above stubbornness to prove points like that. If he brings them in it would surely be because he feels like it's the right thing to do.
Rotherham have released defensive quartet Sean Morrison, Lee Peltier, Grant Hall and Tyler Blackett, along with midfielders Cafu, Sam Clucas and Shane Ferguson. Two other midfielders – Joel Holvey and Curtis Durose – along with left-back Tolaji Bola and goalkeeper Nat Ford, complete the list of players departing the New York Stadium.
He's an odd one, did quite well at Villa (5 in 21 in the Premier League), but didn't manage a single goal in 20 league appearances for Stoke.
I just hope this is the last of the manic transfer windows. I'll be incredibly happy next year if we only have to sign 2 players rather than 10, but can already see a Seri, Coyle and possibly a philogene replacement being needed without the general 'replace the **** signings from last year' conundrum
I've always liked Josh Windass and it would be a nice story but please not another window building an army of attacking mids.
I’d like us to sign Iké Ugbo instead of Windass. Ugbo had a great loan spell at Wednesday by all accounts. Their fans rave about him and want him back.
I just think Óscar’s played his last game for us and that would’ve been the case under Rosenior or the new gaffer if it’s Walter. Óscar’s a good goal poacher but he doesn’t really get involved in build-up, he’s not mobile or quick, he’s not particularly good holding up the ball with his back to the opposition to lay it off and he’s not good at pressing. He’s good at getting into the right area at the right time and is quite good in the air. Perfect for some teams but not us. Didn’t suit Rosenior’s football and I don’t think he’d suit Walter’s. Strikers like Delap, Glatzel and Ugbo would suit Walter’s style though imo. High, intense pressing, mobility and getting involved in build-up and able to do a bit of everything like holding the ball up, running in behind, drifting wide, dropping deeper etc. You need to sign players based on how they actually play and not merely on how many goals they score in teams that don’t play remotely the same way. There are exceptions, like Haaland at Man City, but we have to be a bit more canny when getting strikers.
