In short, no. There’s FFP rules in the Premier League and the Championship, in League One and League Two they have different rules. They have the Salary Cost Management Protocol instead, which takes no account of losses, it just limits the percentage of income that can be spent on wages.
Be interesting to see the retained list when it comes out, I just can't see us being able to hold onto Greaves sadly, but the lad deserves his chance. The Wet Spammers rumours may change if Moyes does one, however I suspect Spurs may be another one looking given their frailty in defence. Not sure if Philo has been consistent enough despite his huge talent and promise to prompt someone into to spending big money on him. If we do get a sh1t load for Greaves, Delap is a must for me, huge potential and is only gonna get better. LB is still a concern, and obvs with the rest of the returning loanees, we need some more width and midfield prowess, and a replacement for Greaves. Gonna be an interesting summer to say the least,
If this is right I think we can rule Delap out. https://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/man-city-inviting-offers-for-delap-4493804
If we are serious and want him I trust in Acun to sort a deal out, then it will be down to the lad himself, wouldn't at all surprise me to see him back here, been saying it for a while now, I get the impression he feels at home here.
I can’t see City going crazy over a buy back he isn’t good enough for that level or them. I could see him back here though.
The relegated clubs would usually be the obvious clubs targeting Delap. But Sheffield Utd are a bin fire, Luton will invest in their ground and Burnley don’t play that way. Leeds are stacked with strikers, Boro can’t shell out a second summer. Liam will be choosing between us and Sunderland**. **and some other clubs, I guess.
If Delap doesn’t go to a PL club or a relegated club, I’d put us in prime position. That’s still a lot of possible clubs though.
Probably 5-7 million up front with few add ons and sell on clause i would think, also the player will have some say Man City won't just throw him to any club they don't need the money really so i suspect they will give him what club he would like to go to priority and i very much think if he does leave Man City he would choose us.
I agree Plum but i just think him knowing what he gets here game time, support, appreciation, the supporters he loves everything about the club and the Manager and Owners i think that will be a big swing and in my opinion he will definately be starting here next season with whatever Tan and Acun sort out with Man City it's whoever starts up front with him i think about most.
