to be fair to rubberface on that the person telling him might think it's that, it's nuts football and how things change so quick stansfield was in are tunnel with a top on and changed his mind last second and went to birmingham, years ago Virgil van Dyke done his welcome video here but ellis short pulled the plug last second roy keane was sat down having a conversation with some of are players on his return before that fell through last minute and the gus poyet was about to sign a 3 and half year contract when KLD first come in but he changed his mind last minute, when i get stuff wrong i don't use the excuse that' things change last minute' i just take it on the chin but it happens
This one is the most annoying! Of all the signings Ellis let go through he pulled the plug on one of the best defenders of the last decade!
Dodds' presser is very interesting. Always hard to tell entirely, and I could be wrong, but appears he's fully resigned to leaving. Seems like he's already disassociated himself from the club with the language he's using. Surprisingly critical of the players too...they get off scot free, need to reflect etc. Not a bad word for TM either...clearly rated him very highly.
Yeah I get the feeling he almost doesn't care about what he says anymore. He's spot on about the players mind, they've shafted 3 head coaches this season. The coaches this season are by no means blameless but some of the players, especially recently, have embarrassed themselves.
Lads on here definitely get info. I've had stuff in the past PMed to me well before announced officially. Managers, players coming in etc. Its handy to keep an eye on certain posters liking posts. Only problem with info and being careful is that stuff can change quickly so people are coy about posting on the board. I once posted the dancing man when I had been told Robert's had agreed a new contract, loads of lads where asking what I knew, I had said something like we'll find out shortly, then it took weeks to announce.... so I quickly learned that when a player agrees a new contract, it doesn't mean it will be signed and announced straight away.
I've been watch and playing for a long time and following the lads the same...... I reckon I'm a pretty good judge of a player. None of those brought in last January are a significant improvement on what we currently have. Those recruited in Summer last, only Mayenda, Aooshishe are capable of enhancing the first team squad. Only my opinion but as I've said, years of experience watching the amount of s hite Sunderland have signed over the past 50 years, I think my opinion is worth it's weight in gold.
Change of tone from him today - and at odds with his previous quotes about ‘the group’ (Blackburn aside). Wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him also leave in the summer.
I do agree mate, but the bit I can't understand is he's blaming the players yet basically started with the same 11 and made the same substitutions week in week out. If the players weren't performing as he'd ask then drop them
Yeah I agree with you. All 3 coaches have done strange stuff this season but I can't get away with the fact some players have let themselves down and it barely gets a mention
Times time. I Still can not believe they have been in post so long. Especially with the run we have been on.
Spot on. John Terry said that Roman once came into the dressing room and said I can't keep sacking managers, we'll have to start looking at some of you to go next. I said last week that I can't stand the "nothing to play for" and "on the beach" excuse and attitude of some. Some, not all players, as you've pretty much said have been shocking the past couple of weeks. Some of the same players we'll be hanging our hats on to do us well next season.
Having just watched his press conference I think he knows he's going. Players won't like to be publicly criticised. Think he will go.
I reckon that is a leaving speech. I said when he was given the long gig it was a world of difference being a head coach of a squad, as to a coach for individual development. If I were him I would want to go back to that development role. It may not have the glamour, but boy is it rewarding and should be valued highly in the game. In my opinion it is best he goes. He may be proud of what he has done, and I have no doubts half of what goes on day to day he deals with is not known by any supporter. It is a brutal job, worst and best on any club. But the bare reality is he hasnt been up to it. He hasnt the gravitas on the touchline, he seems tactically neaive to me, particularly when it comes to the possession side of the game. I also think he has roughed the players up in has last few press conferences. I dont have an issue with that, they arent good enough as a squad, and some have been well below form. But you dont so that expecting to walk back in for pre season. Also, to be perfectly honest, he has shown much much less than Beale did as a coach so I think a clean sweep all round is needed. Good luck to him, but shame he wasnt left in the role he was brought in to do, as in that role he was elite level.
