Sentiment definitely is a weak point for Klopp, he often hangs on to players too long

Salah is going to score goals. He's going to provide goals.

We can expect those numbers to go down each year but we know he will be valuable. Of course there are other harder to measure benefits to Salah.

*His fame solidifies overseas fans as Liverpool fans, which will over time provide funds for Liverpool.

*Players may join us because they want to play alongside Salah.

It's unlikely any player we sign will have such an impact as him for those. That said, if £100mill offer comes in it would be hard to justify holding on to him... But let's be realistic, there won't be a £100mill offer again. Next time it will be £50 or £60mill (tops... But maybe a lot less than either of those).. And at that price it's harder to decide whether to sell or not.

Totally agree another point being how many of those penalties this season was because salah was fouled getting a player with pace or trickery could get us more penalties

On the basis of selling players at the right time to get maximum value for the purpose of investing in the squad; we've quite a few players in and around that point at the club...
    - VVD
    - Robbo
    - Salah
    - Endo (only just joined but probably peak value right now)
    - Tsimikas

Alisson is around that age too but keepers often carry on for longer than outfield players

Because I'm not bothered about trying to be the club's accountant, I only look at what I think they can contribute on the pitch.
Endo has done a decent job but he's limited, if we could get a better option I'd let him go.
The Greek has faded since what I thought was a decent start so the same for him.
I've already used up my word quota on Salah today so I'll say no more here.
While the others are still contributing so much there's no way I'd sell them. Success on the pitch is infinitely more important than fattening the wallet.

Get what you're saying is I'd rather keep most to performer players but if the football world were to actually take FFP seriously, selling at peak value is something that must be considered.

TBF, I tend to agree with you on the money side. None of us really know what's going on anyway

Kellher and Jones could be included in that as well. Kellher depends if he wants to be a no1 somewhere which I don’t think any of us would be mad at him for. Jones does show promise when he has a solid run of games just that doesn’t happen very often due to injuries mainly.

I just think that if you want to be a top club you don't sell your best players at their peak. On the other hand, you don't hang onto them for too long when they're past that peak.

Thanks for the detailed answer and for not just dismissing my question. We aren't going to agree on this one other than some of the obvious factors that you've pointed out like him not being at his peak and him going off the boil following injury.

I think Salah's dedication and professionalism has been outstanding. He's been synonymous with Liverpool for the entirety of the time he's been with us. I'm the first to admit that I can get too attached to some players, not all, despite what Z says ;) I just can't join the 'take the money and buy a new one' club, when the one you've got is working well.

Jota is the penalty magnet and having a proper referee is the way we get more penalties..:bandit:

Best transfer this summer would be a defensive coach imo

No such thing in football. This is not rugby and not American football

    Old way of thinking.
Clubs now have coaches for deadball situations and throw-ins.

But even ignoring these new ones, football clubs have had coaches specialising in 'Attacking', 'Defending', 'Tactics', 'Goalkeeping' and other basic standard parts of the sport for decades.

Had noticed that start of this season and end of last his ability on the ball and passing were either improving, or he’s just showcasing it more as can’t run past players as easily.

the pass for diaz in the first game v chelsea. A couple of other assists, couple passes to diaz in the city game recently. He’s played a lot of those through balls into players very well so maybe he is adapting his game to become more an all round than just a goal scorer.

If he drops below 20 you’re right might be able to replace him. But how much is that costing? 60/70m transfer fee. £x million in agent fees. £150k a week. Why replace someone who scores 15 goals wit someone else and spend a load of money doing it if you already have that player for current cost?

He's adapted his game, since his goalscoring hasn't been as prolific, into being very effective in assists and is actually one of our best final third passers. His assists could be double if more of his passes had been converted. I think he's the first player in PL history to have 3 successive seasons of double figures in goals and assists.

Yeah that was a lovely pass and he did it a couple times for sure.
