Former British and Commonwealth champion boxer Willie Limond has died at the age of 45.

It is understood he fell ill earlier this month amid preparations for a fight.

In an Instagram post on Monday, his son Jake said: "My dad passed away in the early hours of the morning around 3am.

"He fought on for near enough 10 days. Warrior."

The Scot won 42 of his 48 professional fights from 1999 to 2023, including 13 by knockout.

Dickey Betts, the guitarist from The Allman Brothers Band, has died at the age of 80.

His family confirmed on Instagram that the Ramblin' Man performer passed away in his Osprey, Florida home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday.

'The legendary performer, songwriter, bandleader and family patriarch passed away earlier today,' the Betts family said. 'Dickey was larger than life, and his loss will be felt world-wide.'

Charlie Duncan. Goalkeeper and referee. Played against him, he's played for teams I played for and been refereed by him. Top, top bloke. He'd turn out for anyone at the drop of a hat. Charlie loved the game and will be sadly missed locally.
Ah ye i know Charlie
Played against him and with him many times
One of my last seasons he was reffing us and we were short of players one game
Next week he was in goal for us and chucked reffing on a Sunday for the rest of the season!!
Great bloke
Always in if there was a scuffle just took him longer to get there in his older days <laugh>

He turned out for the team I played for in the late 90’s a few times.

Lovely bloke and a very good keeper, considering his height.

RIP Charlie.
