After fifty years of watching Sunderland at Wembley they're easily the worst people I've ever seen ...

... I've been to their ground around 8 times and there's always been trouble.

Their hooligans are brainless ******s and the rest of them support the ******s <doh>
I used to work with a few of them - worse than mags <laugh><laugh>

Talksport were having a tug over them the other night when they were promoted. Saying stuff "The belong in the Championship" and "proper club", by proper club they mean a **** hole of a ground and fans that try and walk on the pitch to fight a football team?Another club that spent what they didn't have once upon a time.

They never talk about Fulham being a 'proper club' do they ...

.... despite having a steady support, few crowd problems and an ever improving stadium.

I worked in Southampton/Portsmouth for 2 years and to be honest I do not like Portsmouth as a club. The fans seem to be continually angry and aggressive and believe they should be in the premier league.
IMO they should have had any honours stripped off them when they were obviously spending money they did not have and almost leveraged their own club into extinction. it was an absolute **** show of a time and the club played the old Ohh poor me! card and look at how bad it is a little old Portsmouth. Their owners caused it and their fans still think that what happened subsequently was not any fault of the club, absolutely boils my piss. then they make up fake rivalries to amp themselves up for games which I have no doubt they will do again next season I just hope we as a club do not rise to the bait as they would love to try and play some rough ****e with our team and make the matches a brawl rather than a game.

They alternate between 'little old Portsmouth' punching above their weight and 'Mighty Pompey' every one should be scared of. The reality is that they're just Preston with a worse ground and a shyte 'pretend Cockney' attitude ...

... as you say we should avoid allowing ourselves to be drawn down into their horrible little world.

Totally agree. I quite like Fulham, just there plodding along and like you say, getting their ground up to scratch. It wasn't plucky little Pompey when they were getting players like Crouch,DeFoe,Burger and Sheringham... that they couldn't afford, just to play in Europe. They created a "Rivalry" with us when at the time they meant absolutely f**k all to us. Then that yob hoofed and 09, something he should've pressed charges for, but hey ho. Oh and that "Play up pompey" ****e is up there with "When the Spurs go marching in".

I'm neutral on Portsmouth and just view them like any other southern, non-London team (Colchester, Swindon, Oxford, Bournemouth etc) but I must admit, when you start analysing the club culture it is just easy to dislike. Play up Pompey, the Cockney-esque veneer, that bloke with the dreads etc

It's a weird combination of southern arrogance and working class bluntness, something like that anyway and that's an increasingly rare combo (for obvious reasons).

Used to live in Portsmouth. There are a huge number of wanabee gangsters there

I wonder how they’re doing financially because their current squad needs severely strengthening if they’re to compete in the championship… I hope they finish rock bottom.

They were complete arsehole at Wembley mind. Absolute scum bags going around trying to wind Sunderland fans up. Half the ****ers were dressed in George Michael style shorts

It started first thing as well.

We got off the tube at Baker Street and there were some shouting 'Northern bastards' at a bloke with his family. We thought he'd been in an argument so we went over to ask him, when we got closer they started on other people.

That set the scene for the whole day sadly.

I'm sure there's the opening lyric to a famous song there involving a saxophone, mate.

Aye we went for some scran early on and they picked on my mate outside by himself, relating to his rather heavy figure. I mean only I'm allowed to do that. There were 3 of us with our 3 sons and he thought he could wind us up with "Geordies are better than mackems". I said " that's great news, because the 6 of us are all Geordies" . The thick **** looked so confused.
