preston will be absolutely up for it they can guarantee themselves they finish above norwich if they beat them but we have to win tommorow first
They can finish above Norwich if they beat all of Norwich, WBA, Leicester and Southampton in their last 5. And if they do that I'll take my hat off to 'em.
I posted this over in another thread, but thought it might be better here. The average here is 73.8 points. 70 points is generally considered the minimum and we'd need at least three wins to meet that. Four wins and a draw and we'd be bang on the average. 79 is the maximum amount of points we can currently achieve. West Brom need three wins and a draw from their final five games to finish with 79 points. Even if we didn't drop a point, goal difference would give them the edge. Four wins and they can't be mathematically beaten. Norwich need to win all of their four remaining games to ensure they can't be mathematically beaten, as three wins and a draw would see them finish on 78. Even if Coventry or Preston won all of their remaining games they would only be able to finish on 78 points. As we know, we have yet to play Coventry, and Preston play both Norwich and West Brom – so it's impossible for all of the teams still there or there about to actually win all of their remaining games. Points will be dropped.
It's not in their hands though, is it? Even if they beat Norwich on Saturday they'd still have fewer points than them and still be relying on Norwich dropping more points.
if preston beat norwich norwich will have a maximum attainable tally of 77 points preston will have a maximum attainable tally of 78 pts and preston beating norwich means 6th place would be in our hands.. assuming we win today as we have a maximum attainable tally of 79 points
We are due a good performance at home and we'll get that tonight, looking forward to worrying West Brom, Norwich, Coventry and Preston as we resurrect our play off challenge, UTT.
Our review of the Cardiff performance and a look ahead to Boro ahead of tonight. I've had it pointed out to me that the episode title might not make sense to everyone - 'bunnies' is a sporting term for a team that constantly loses to another side. 6 losses to us in a row for Cardiff applies!
This is off topic, but I feel like they've missed an opportunity with a beer called 'pure optimism' being so low in alcohol. Feels like it should be a strong, heavily hopped NEIPA, since it's so close to being 'pure hoptimism', suggesting nothing but hops. Plus, a stronger beer is likely to get you drunk quicker, and as a result, more susceptible to delusion.
