Sorry to pick on this one post but this is an example of the weird way City fans judge players sometimes. It seems like Carvalho came with such high expectation that there's nothing he can do to satisfy people. He's been basically our only effective attacker recently and he's getting knocked. Ömür is clearly talented but he's shown no end product yet, and no one seems to want to question that. He had a great chance last night and fluffed it. He's promising and certainly one I look forward to seeing more of but to criticise Carvalho and compare Ömür favourably to him based on the last few months is baffling.
Completely agree. Omur is 'keeping us in the race' thanks to his one assist against Huddersfield and the fact he puts himself around the pitch and looks good - which don't get me wrong, I think he's a great option in comparison to Ohio - but Carvalho who has what, 5 goals and an assist? Hasn't done enough?
The games he hasn't done that have been the games we've underperformed.
It's all well and good performing at St Mary's, Bellend Rd and S.O.L. and to an extent at home against the bigger boys, but I don't see the same against the rank and file.
But he's far from alone in that.

I'd summise that he's allowed plenty of freedom in possession, but he's got to be in the right place in transition, which is the hard bit he doesn't like.
That said, he manages it on the bigger stages.

Against Preston he had three shots on target, 1 key pass, and won 5/9 ground duels. Is that the big stage too?
Your point seems to be to write off Carvalho's good performances as 'he only does it on the big stage' and then rattled off a number of games that included Sunderland. He was also excellent on debut against Norwich and as I've just cited, Preston as well. In fact the only bad games he's had are probably Stoke, Swansea and Huddersfield and he was far from alone in two of those.
Direct rival, North west club so family and plenty of local eyes on him there.
It was one he'd probably find it easier to be more up for than Stoke at home

If you don't think that's a big stage - or even Norwich as a recent PL side then you underestimate.
I'd say he's a pretty good barometer - and that was my point. If he plays well then generally we do as a team. If he doesn't then we don't.
It wasn't supposed to be any deeper an analysis than that. But as I also stated - he isn't alone.
Yes I've been to the SoL. My point is that you're coming up with reasons why every game he's done well in is a big stage and every game he hasn't isn't. Is Huddersfield not a big stage as a Yorkshire rival then? It's just a cop out to use that as an excuse.
