Just leased a new car for the missus and going to sell her car. Is it worth selling privately/Autotrader, or just chucking it to one of the "we buy any car" sites? Appreciate you get less money with the latter, but seems hassle free - fewer timewaster/tyre kickers etc

Ive sold a few cars in Marketplace on Facebook mate. Its pretty good for selling cars and free.
I wouldn't go to a we buy any car. I got a quote from them once online which sounded good, but when you take it down to them theyll nit pick every single thing they can and reduce the quote massively once they think theyve got you interested. Theyll take 50 quid off for example for a little scratch

Thanks mate. Trying to weigh up the hassle-free approach v dealing with the general public. I can imagine they'd try and reduce the quote for every little thing. Was wondering if any garages buy cars - like they would for a part-ex but without me buying a car off them

Yeah i know what you mean mate. Depending on how much you want for it add a couple of hundred quid on your asking price and say or nearest offer, and then you should get close to what you want.
Marketplace has always been the best way to buy and sell things in my experience.

Took my van to we buy any car at Washington. Was best price by a country mile. Didn't knock anything off either 24 hrs bank transfer all done. At the end of the day if you have a price in your head and they try to knock you down to far just take it away again. I found it hassle free although I understand some haven't.

We recently sold our 15 plate low milage 2ltr Astra automatic on "Motorway " it's advertised on TV. You take pics and upload it to their ap and dealers put bids in for it. We recieved a bid of £6500 which we accepted the buyer arranged to pick it up and took it for a quick test drive. He was very happy with the car and immediately transferred the money to our account. We did the paperwork and he loaded the car to his trailer and off they went, all very easy and painless. They were very easy to deal with so much so my daughter also used them and was very happy.

Sold it via CarWow. Took a load of pictures and provided evidence of ownership/service history.
Went on auction and sold for my reserve price later that day.
Car just been picked up and money in my account within seconds. Can't recommend this enough for anyone looking to sell a car hassle-free

Ive been to the far end of nowhere in the winter to pick stuff up like Decking even soil for a planter project I had last summer. Tables and chairs for the dining room. Had no issue going to collect, had a few time wasters coming to get though. One actually said they were "leaving now"..... 2 year ago and still waiting. lol

Seen the votes for market place, couldn't agree more, just one bit of advice, make sure log books are signed while youre there and make sure you get the persons name and address that buy it, its also worth letting the DVLA know you've sold it the day it goes, mate of mine has had a bit chew selling a car on market place, bloke who bought it wasn't dodgy, just absent minded with the paperwork, took him an age to sign and send the logbook to the DVLA,plus my mate didn't get his address so when he was on the phone to the DVLA a few days after he sold it and it was shown as him still owning it online "Blokes name was Dave and he was from Boldon" wasn't the solid info DVLA was after.Its all sorted know, but was a chew on for a couple of weeks for him.
