as denbus says always best to ask on here for good advice

Had my iPhone XR five years
The battery just runs out really quickly!
I’m on a tenner smarty contract
Is it looking like I have to get a new phone ? Or can you buy a new battery?
I don’t want to go back to a contract and be paying 40-50 a month

any suggestions??

Not an expert but I suspect experts here will tell you to look at the apps you have on your phone that are running in the background.

Buy an 'as new' from a retailer site - its generally a returned or newly refurbished model that's been superceded.
Much cheaper.

Is it operator error? Do you have 50 million open ‘tabs’ in the background all the time?

Tbf I think they deliberately build obsolescence in. Mine always starts to be **** about the same time as my contract is up.

You can get replacement batteries for about £12 online, but **** knows how you actually fit them. Maybe ring a dodgy phone shop and ask them.

Its def bullshit
That they purposefully seal the battery in and then charge 85 quid for a replacement

I remember when you could change batteries at will and upgrade

But companies like apple are extremely anti consumer

But its simple to change yourself
Plenty of guides in youtube and theres no warranty worry for your older phone

Battery tech is actually a big problem
While computing power and screen tech has massively increased
Lithium ion batteries are old tech and woeful
Hopefully new advancements will be soon

This, all ways up. I have managed our work phone contracts for years and you’ll get a good 2 years of decent service from a genuine Apple replacement battery. The DIY ones can be OK, can be ****e, but you don’t really know until they start failing.

It takes about an hour at an Apple shop (I use Meadowhall)
So I can’t buy a battery and do it myself?
Got to go in an apple shop to let them do it?
And the idea of meadowhell fills me with dread!

and what about err you know things on my phone ?? <whistle>

I’m on a 13 so not sure if it’s exactly the same, but in mine if you put your finger at the bottom of this page, for example, and drag it up slowly it goes smaller and sort of lines up alongside all the other ‘tabs’ in the middle of the screen
When you can see them lining up to the left of the one you dragged up you can swipe them up to properly close them.
Whether that works on your 3210 I’m not sure…

I have done it myself before and it’s not too bad a job, I more recommended using them for convenience and the quality of the battery.

if you go into Settings, Battery, then Battery Health you can actually book somewhere through there that isn’t Meadowhall (and they won’t look at your, ahem, private photos)

His private photos will all be of various alcoholic drinks.

Didn’t know that
There you go @Chazz Rheinhold have a look at your battery health and you’ll see whether it needs changing in the first place (mine is 88% compared to new and works fine)
