Not wishing to throw petrol on the fire, but if the picture below is accurate regarding the second kit, and everything I see online suggests it is real, then Nike, and by extension the FA, are being more than a little bit disingenuous as this is not a 'playful update' but a straight forward version of the Pride Progress flag masquerading as the Cross of St. George. I'm all for live and let live (although I may get some pelters for this post) but why the **** do they think they need to change a national flag, unless they have a not so subtle ulterior motive.

You really think that cross is based on this flag?

I must be missing something, they look nothing like each other to me and the home and away shirts have different coloured crosses on them anyway.

Colours, the black, brown, yellow and pink, in lines.

Why does anyone have to mess around with stuff just to be artistic. Reminds me of when either Hincliffe or Buchanans son did the new Tigers head. 10k or so it cost and looked like it was on drugs.

FA statement...

"The new England 2024 home kit has a number of design elements which were meant as a tribute to the 1966 World Cup winning team.

"The coloured trim on the cuffs is inspired by the training gear worn by England's 1966 heroes, and the same colours also feature on the design on the back of the collar.

"It is not the first time that different coloured St George's Cross-inspired designs have been used on England shirts.

"We are very proud of the red and white St George's Cross - the England flag. We understand what it means to our fans, and how it unites and inspires, and it will be displayed prominently at Wembley tomorrow - as it always is - when England play Brazil."

Jesus. Looks like the anti woke brigade contrive to take offence at nowt every bit as much as the ultra woke lot.

To some people playfully redesigning the national flag is not something which should be done. Let’s see if they do it with any other countries flags . Doubt they will as they know the reaction would be a lot more volatil than here where too many do not care about our country’s history or traditions.
