You may well have a point there, imo many of the foreign lads brought in are not fully match fit, possibly why so many injuries. some were even injured when they came to us.
The thing is he signed in Jan 2022 but didn’t get into the team until Jan 2023, he made only 5 league starts in that 12 month period. Sometimes these lads need time.
Jack Clarke started very few games in his first season and got called week as piss, frightened to tackle, holds on to the ball to long, RS was only brought in as back up to Wyke and only got a game when he left. Ballard is probably the only one that's been nailed on starter from the day he signed. Even Diallo got pelters when he first signed. The bonus for some of these players they were coming into the team with possibly one or two new recruits, this season there are times when there are 5 and 6 on the pitch. I think Jobe would have made an even bigger impact playing with more experienced players and not playing every game. That is the one thing the recruitment have to get right this season, I don't think we signed the wrong players, we just didn't sign the experienced ones to bring the on
Remember some of comments slating Amad when he first played, the kid just needed some love and guidance
I was happy buying him, but only after his showing in the play-offs. Before that I was always saying all fart no ****e! Then out of nowhere it clicked. I don't agree with Stewart being back up for Wyke! I think he was bought as his replacement with the view that he was going to be better pkayer, but he signed with a injury and due to Wyke scoring for fun he could be eased in! He showed he was going to be an upgrade and its why the club didn't try too hard to keep Wyke when his contract ended, despite him being top scorer! I think a lot of the current players could do with having a season being eased in with no pressure!
Think that's the problem we have too many to ease in, in one go. If the club can bring that bit of experience then the signings we've made could be what we need with another season
We have had a number of good players from Ireland over the years Charlie Hurley , Martin Harvey , Johnnie Crossan were more than instrumental in the 1963 promotion team and their contribution will never be forgotten . We don’t seem to have had as may “gems” in recent years until Trai Hume appeared , Johnnie Evans and Shay Given were excellent but were not our players unfortunately .
Does anyone know how Trai pronounces his name? I keep hearing two different versions, but I think it's Tray. Is it Tray, or Try
Don’t know mate but I wonder if Try is the way you’d pronounce it if you were Northern Irish? Then it’s more likely to be pronounced Tray if you’re speaking with an English accent.
