Sounds like a similar type of deal (if it goes through) to the Conor Wickham one. He's been training with us and sounds as if he's done enough to convince NJ to check him out, presumably with a view to next season. To be honest, seems a nice position to be in that we can start to prepare for next season before march has passd to april. Very early days (we're not completely out of the relegation scrap just yet) but maybe we may put a squad together that we can build on and push upwards, rather than the usual mass clear our every june!
Would certainly make a change if we can start the summer transfer window with the makings of a good squad.
Player number 42 this season for our League One squad. 34 years old in December. Yep. Definitely one for the future. Quick, get some shirts with his name on into the Club shop.
I know I'm sounding negative, but I can't see the point of these signings at this time. I think Connor Wickham was a decent player. Maybe he and Lua Lua have a bit left in their lockers. Granted, in the past some old heads like Darren Pratley have really contributed. I'm just deeply sceptical these days. Any hopefulness I used to have about new signings is gone. And these free agent signings don't seem to make much sense to me from a footballing point of view. Are they just fleeting attention grabbers? For sure, those guys are not going to get CAFC into the Championship next season. We need yet another squad clear-out in the summer. Also I'll confess I'm quite tired, and I always get a but spiky when I'm knackered. It's been another difficult week at work, which is why my updates to the stats have not been completed. Excuses I know, but I like to keep them up to date.
Why rush to judgement? Wait and see what comes of it. We only have one wide player, Tyreece Campbell, who has turned down a new contract, and gone off the boil. Rylah had one start and looked a bag of nerves, so maybe they'll learn a thing or two.
Although looking at the picture I’m not sure he’ll still be doing his famous goal celebration any more…..
Lua Lua looks shot to pieces. Like Ladapo, Camara etc. In the old days this would have guaranteed him a two year deal on £5k a week, with the option of a third, but under No Nonsense Nathan I think the party is over.
