Sorry if it's already been done but was just 'laughing' my way through
the 'Caught Offside' website when I found this.

Newcastle United Boss Targets £25m Tottenham, Chelsea and West Ham Trio to Strengthen Magpies Squad

players in question - Daniel Sturridge
Niko Kranjcar
James Tomkins

Sturridge has great pace and seems to have eye for goal, would be a great foil for a big number 9 who can win most balls in the air and can hold the ball up like that long haired guy we've go.......oops horse.bolted.
Kranjcar would be a good signing, has looked good when he's come on recently for the Spuds, may get him for a reasonable price as he's fairly much out the picture at Spuds.
Tomkins - why?

Tomkins - Nerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Would love the other 2 though. Sturridge has been good at Bolton but I remember him saying he wants to break through at Chelsea, and he might the way Torres is playing.
Kranjcar can play across midfield and has some quality about him.

Sturridge and Kranjcar would be good additions but Tomkins! Played like a donkey everytime i've seen him. I think Kadar is better.

Sturridge - YES PLEASE! Young, potentially can become a great striker(he's already a good one anyways) and will bring a different dimension to our game(can play good on the deck, excellent pace, unpredictable, decent dribbler and can score goals).
Kranjcar - YES PLEASE! Will add that much needed strength in depth that we need, can play as a winger or as a AM! good versatility and wouldn't cost much, fantastic footballer in general.
Tomkins - NO THANKS! He struggled to cope with Best! Had a awful game back when we thumped them 5-0 and we already have Kadar waiting for his chances, Tomkins is young and can improve but I'm very unconvinced he'll be a top defender(might become one in the future but currently looks like a average Championship player).

I agree with all this - however, what concerns me is that we would be buying one back up player (Tomkins), one squad player (Kranjar) and one 'potential' first teamer (Sturridge) and all this for £25M - can't see any of this happening.

Kranjcar: DEFINITELY
Sturridge: Would have said no before seeing him at Bolton
Tomkins: ABSOLUTELY NO F***** WAY. Collo, Willo and Saylor all look good at CB, and Kadar has great potential. No point getting anyone there unless they will be a big improvement on Collo, Willo and Saylor (Huth/Hangeland etc.)

Sturridge has scored 9 goals in 50 games (City, Chelsea and Bolton). And you would be happy as a replacment for Carroll? Ok I know the appearences are mostly from the bench, but he isn't a proven goal scorer. Why would we want to take the risk?

I would definately have him, but not at the price mentioned, and not as our first choice striker.

If we can get a player that we do not need to develop to replace Carroll and to lead our line, then I think we could look at getting more promising youngsters.
