Sturridge has scored 9 goals in 50 games (City, Chelsea and Bolton). And you would be happy as a replacment for Carroll? Ok I know the appearences are mostly from the bench, but he isn't a proven goal scorer. Why would we want to take the risk?

I would definately have him, but not at the price mentioned, and not as our first choice striker.

If we can get a player that we do not need to develop to replace Carroll and to lead our line, then I think we could look at getting more promising youngsters.

You dont know how much of the supposed 25 mil would be spent on him or if this story is even true. And he is very young, when Carroll was 20 for us he scored 4 goals in 4 months, in the CCC. After a run of games he finished with 15 in the final 4 months.

The reported fee for Kranjcar is around £4-8m. Tomkins would cost no more than £5m, especially if West Ham get relegated. So on those estimates, Sturridge would cost more than £10m! For someone who isn't a proven goal scorer, that isn't worth it. No doubt he has potential, but we cannot have a 'potentially great striker' leading our line. We need a striker that is CURRENTLY a great striker. One of the names that comes to mind is Porto's Hulk. May be a litle ambitious, but this is the kind of ability we should be looking for.
