Apologies Rusholme, my username is misleading. For the record I support, in no particular order, Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal and Man City. I also support Ipswich from the Championship and Celtic from the SPL. I am a patriot.
I don't remember any high profile 30yo+ players coming to the PL and doing the business. In his prime, yes great player, but now I'm not so sure. If we could get him cheap, or on loan then maybe it's worth a risk, but I wouldn't want to see us waisting any serious cash on a player of his age, who is seemingly past his best
Completely agree with Shergar.Kaka has lost that extra yard that made him explosively quick and unplayable at times. Also, could he cope with the rigours of the premier league?I have my doubts. He has played most of his Football, when fit, in a ****e pedestrian Serie A, then a few injury ravaged years in the defence free La Liga.I think he would be eaten alive in the PL.Too quick, too rough and 10 years too late.
Hurray, I've got a stalker! Always wanted one of those Makalele was 30 when he came to Chelsea and was the dogs bollocks for them imo. Also Larsson was pretty handy for us, and Ballack and Deco did pretty well for Chelsea, particularly given that the managers who brought them in were quickly disposed of after they arrived. But yeah, there are probably more examples of over 30 flops than successes, which is why I'd only be willing to go up to around £12m.
He's 29 but yeah, nearly thirty and against our policy admittedly which is why the proviso is always that he is cheap. It's not like we don't play older players though is it? If he were cheap and he gave breathing space whilst our younger players mature it could be an option. Injures are obviously a worry. Who else is out there though? Seriously, the options are limited to buy players of the class needed to play for us.
If we could persuade RM into a loan to buy deal it could be a master stroke. But would they sell us a virus?
We werent exactly accomodating in the Ronaldo transfer, insisting on the cash up front, not to mention the burst of vitriol from SAF, though I remember after the sale that it was the then RM president Callderon(sp?) that SAF alluded to.I can see them looking first dibs on Hernandez to do a deal.
£20 million for a 30 year old Kaka who hasn't shown he's any where near the player of old since he joined Real Madrid??? You lot are on crack.
Rusholme, how dare you! Rela and Barca I can't abide playing in a corrupt league. AL Liga has to be the most uncompetitive league in Europe. I am a patriot. I only support British clubs.
With all the potential we have in the young midfield players we have. (Cleverly, Pogba, Morrison, Tunnecliffe, and dare I say it, Anderson), If we could get Kaka on the cheap it might be worth a shot.
