OK - I'll have a rant. Just 2 weeks back we blagged a win at Watford and we were all looking up the table. How things and moods can change in a fortnight. We were looking at the teams above us to beat, catch and overtake. Barely 2 weeks on and after 3 consecutive defeats that's forgotten. We're now looking over our shoulders at who we can beat below us to keep them there - those fixtures have now become the more important "target" games rather than picking off higher placed clubs. It appears at first sight that the players aren't good enough, but the management of them isn't good enough and the coaching of them obviously lacks innovation. To top it all, the hapless decision making at the top of the club by an investment banker, an accountant and a controlling owner 6000 miles away has brought us to this. The lack of knowledgeable football expertise is glaringly obvious. For whatever reasons, and we've all got our opinions, this season has become an absolute shambles at City. Staying in the Championship has once again become the priority. With 40 points already on the board another 10 should be enough to ensure that. But that's all the "club" in its' present format deserves - the loyal fans, especially those who made the trip to Norwich yesterday deserve far more.
If you agree the board got the best manager we ever had then you agree they did a good job getting him. I do not think anyone expected Bulut to be the worst manager we ever had. This idea to get rid of Tan and suddenly get another rich owner to pay all the bills and spend a lot of money on top players and a top manager is cloud nine, fantasy football. The reality is you know how bad the results have been and you do not like the tactics but if you think it is not the fault of the manager then sit back and enjoy what the manager is trying to do.
Spot on OS. What’s concerning is the put on a blindfold, chuck it at a dartboard and see if it sticks approach to appointing a manager. Bulut clearly is not suited to managing a Championship club. Yet Tan allowed Dalman to appoint him. As you state the decisions on the football side of the club are made without any expert consultation. Would they make such important decisions in their non football businesses? That would be tantamount to corporate negligence but season after season they keep on making these wrong decisions. So all eyes turn to Tuesday nights game against a club with a new manager bounce (4 points out of 6) eyeing up a club with 6 losses out of 7.
I did not see anyone object to Bulut coming, in fact most said he was the best manager we ever had and he still has support now. So now it is Dalman`s fault for getting a useless manager? Stop jumping back and fore, either Bulut is the best and the board did well to get him or he is the worst and they should not have got it. Before you decide go back to the start of the season and see how much praise you gave Bulut. I wanted him gone after he caost us the win over Ipswich in game 5. I have stood by that, In football you take a chance on players and the manager you cannot see into the future or everyone would be a winner, even prem clubs with all their money get it wrong. West Ham want Moyes out because he is losing and playing badly, is Moyes a bad manager?
Aside from whether there is anyone out there who was available what manager would want to come here after doing due diligence on how the football side of the club is run? I think it would be an ideal time to bullet Bulut & give someone who’s relatively young and knows this league a contract to the end of the season to see how he gets on; he’d have a huge incentive if he could get the team playing a modern style of football and get the fans back on board of a contract for next season. Also why is the club so reliant on Tan, Dalman and Choo finding someone suitable? As you state their track record is poor so the chances of them getting right are minimal. It should be the decision of a football consultant (DOF) employed by the team to sort out the football affairs not the corporate people. Their decision making should be predominantly the balance sheet not who is manager and which players play and what type of football is played which I aver is the root problem at the club. **OS should these posts be put on the other thread?
