I get on Shola's back all the time, but I don't think he is the worst, he has talent but doesn't seem to apply himself, unlike the best he hasn't developed over the years and still plays the same way making the same basic errors of control and judgement, you'd think he might have learned how to stay on side after so long in the game.

He was GOOD.. back in our European seasons and has had his good runs(End of 2005-2006 season), but will never be a consistent and QUALITY PL striker but good enough to have on the bench!

Championship Drogba = Ameobi!

I wouldn't go as far as saying he is a good striker, but I do like him purely because he's been with us for years.

is there anyone else as bad as him who manages to get 10 years at a premier league club

Shola Ameobi - *Joined Newcastle in 2000 and has played 227 and has scored 46 goals.

There's a few out there that I would consider to be worse than Ameobi that fit the 10 year category! I know all of these aren't solely strikers but...

Leon Osman - *Joined Everton in 2000 and has played 202 games and has scored 25 goals.
Ricardo Gardner - *Joined Bolton in 1998 and has played 339 and has scored 20 goals.
Lucas Radebe - *Joined Leeds in 1994 and left in 2005, played 200 games scoring 0 goals.
*First team only

I think 3 should do it, there will be loads more but can't be bothered to look pre 1994. Everyone slates Ameobi but why...he knows his job and does it very well and has done for years, he's never tried to be something he's not, he knows he's not the best player and he's never complained about not being in the first XI or demanded more wages or a move away. Even when we shipped him out on loan to Stoke, all he wanted to do was to play for Newcastle. We should be applauding his loyalty because as a cover striker I ask you the question who is better in the other teams in the EPL?

Also consider his injury ridden career.

I agree in that some people auto criticise him but likening him to players in other positions and showing their goals per appearances is a tad daft?!

Just saw your "not strikers" bit :emoticon-0150-hands

Radebe must have scored at some point. Osman didn't play until 2004 did he?

Happy to be proved wrong!

EDIT: Checked other sources and Osman made his first team debut in 2003 against Wolves. Still in 2 years time he'll qualify for the 10 year category and he wouldn't have been as good as Ameobi.
