First contract for Elliot Myles:

"Highly-rated academy talent Elliot Myles has put pen to paper on his first professional contract at Norwich City. The Canaries have warded off Premier League interest to secure the long-term future of Myles, who has impressed for the club's under-18s this season as well as featuring for Alan Neilson's under-21s. Myles only turned 17 on Saturday, but has been a consistent source of goals for Greg Crane's struggling development side during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring five goals and assisting twice in seven games despite his age group languishing at the bottom of the under-18 Premier League. The Welsh under-17 international also featured regularly last season, scoring five times and claiming two assists in 14 games."

To quote that MFW article:
"We have always been a club that has relied on player sales to balance the books, so if those young players are not getting those opportunities, Wagner is stifling their careers and the progression of the club, as ultimately he needs to develop players to raise funds."

Developing players to raise funds doesn't have to mean bringing through academy players. It doesn't even have to mean bringing through players signed for the U21s. Funds can be raised by buying young but first team-ready players, adding value, and then selling. Isn't this what we are doing with Sara and Núñez?

I haven't got his exact words to hand, but I'm pretty sure Ben Knapper is on record as questioning the economics of club academies as talent streams for their first team squads. In broader economic terms, investing in start-up companies is not a sure fire way of making money; most of them fail .......

After last night, I would suggest we have seen the last of Idah.
Shame, as I rated the guy, but playing for Celtic is a great move for him

Idah: two penalty goals and one assist in 2 games ..........
Yes, but those who watched last night's match would have seen the other sides of the Idah we know only too well, a succession of nearlys and almosts and, overall, penalties apart, far from convincing.
Here's an amusing quote from a Celtic supporter who knows his onions:

"Skelped in those two pens with a consummate efficiency
totally alien to his teammates. In between, he was
lining up for the evening's hall of villainy as two
glorious opportunities were squandered while we toiled."

I saw a rumour the other days that the option to buy Tzolis is only £3.5m and they could activate and sell him on immediately to Wolfsburg for £10m
