But better late than never - Welcome back Nathan. Good luck - you are going to need it with our squad.
I’m pleased it’s a long term contract. We’re not likely to get anyone better than Jones so we’ll need to stick with him through what will be a difficult initial period. I think our chances of avoiding relegation have just got better, but the squad is still crap, so there’s no guarantee. Let’s just hope that he hasn’t got a release clause if we do go down.
Good luck Nathan. Just keep us up, then sort it out in the summer.
Geezer on Charlton Life pointed out a promotion from the 4th division, so I gave him that.
I feel that he'll have a clause. He's tasted the high life and I cannot see him staying if we go down. It's a CV wrecker.
Our basic problem isn't the manager, something we all know too well by now.
The last owners we had who let the manager do his job were Slater & co.
Over a decade ago now.
Ever since we have had owners who thought they knew best, interfered with team selection, kept our gaffers out of recruitment policy, lied to fans and incurred EFL embargos, foisted debt on the Club and spent its last reserves on Range Rovers, and separated the Club from all its historical assets.
Any manager is bound to fail, and not even in the long term. Most are done for within 20 to 30 games.
I expect nothing from Nathan Jones.
A dead cat bounce of a couple of wins won't save the Club from relegation. And SE7 have already proven themselves incapable of doing their well paid jobs properly.

- Duchatelet - deluded and failed politician - appointed old mates and yes men, plus his muse as the worst CEO in our history.
- ESI - Fake sheikhs, crooks and spivs - no interest in the footballing side or who ran it. Serial liars.
- Sandgaard - on a lifelong ego trip and love affair with himself - CAFC was his latest plaything.
- SE7 - a bunch of con men who have mugged off some foreign investors - employed cheap useless gaffers while trying to flip the Club.

Amazing we're still in existence when you look at that lot. Nathan Jones is the last throw of the dice.
Bringing Jones in will be expensive, and I feel now there may be changes going on behind the scenes as they can see a relegation would be a disaster.
However, I think we are shot to pieces with this poor run, coupled with the next 10 games being horrendous.
We'll still be in the s*** with 3 games to go, then it is the luck of the draw.
The OS welcomes our new manager, rather than Head Coach. And it is Rodwell rather than Scott who welcomes him. Hopeful signs, or am I reading too much into it?
For what it's worth I'm glad NJ is the manager, not head coach. Would like to think that's something he insisted on.

.The yanks are now getting their act together and have not liked what they see.
Jimmy Stone, who worked for Charlton at the same time as NJ, was on Charlton Live giving his impressions of the man. He sets very high standards, and if the players buy into his work ethic he'll be very successful. At Stoke it seems the players didn't. He has a very strong, positive personality, and made a very good impression on everyone. He's very good at man-management, in fact the opposite of Apples. If players start doing just enough to get by he won't stand for it, there will be no hiding place, which was good to hear, since we have a few of those at Charlton.
I expect that the more committed players like Dobbo and Alfie will love him, and hopefully the rest will buy in to his philosophy.

He mentions being manager rather than head coach and that that means he has more involvement in things apart from training the players, so hopefully recruitment as well. He mentions AS so I don’t think he has been sacked, but maybe his role will be slightly reduced as Jones does more. No doubt Scott’s salary won’t reduce in correlation.

Can’t blame Jones he’s only got 16 games with a squad he had no input in putting together, 4 1/2 year contract means this will be a slow process and the entitled ones will have to be patient
