I can't pretend that I didn't smile when I first heard the news, but I sincerely hope that it does not threaten Pompey's long term future.

This. The immediate reaction I had when I first saw it on the BBC website was to think, "What a joke!" but really it's serious. I just find it difficult to see Portsmouth ever finding credible owners who want to invest in the club for the long term because of their comparative lack of capital, such as infrastructure. As such, the only real long term solution I can see is for them to effectively write off their lofty position in the football league and build the club up again from the ground up. That way they can go what we went through in coming up from the bottom of league one, but possibly from a much lower starting point, and enjoy the ride as positivity once more takes hold of the club. For now it is a sad position for them to be in, and, as rivals, I think we should want them to do (reasonably) well in order that we maintain a healthy rivalry.

I wonder if Silvio Berlusconi is looking to invest in a British football club ? Surely he is an upright, decent, honest person, isn't he ??!

Surely it can't get any worse - can it ?

A Portsmouth FC spokesman that the warrant for the owners arrest wont affect the club and it is business as usual.
Does that mean they will keep spending money they havent got,and then shaft everyone they owe,by paying 20p in the pound again??

Obviously I hope they can get out of this (what's a rivalry with no rival eh?) but it's karma for the immoral cup run and league success - and karma's a bitch!

Pot, kettle and black Tottonsaint........

When are your club, and previous owners, going to repay the money to Norwich Union (now Aviva) that is still owed in respect of your new stadium ?

I think you will find all our debts were paid Woops, and we were even good enough to not make you pay for your tickets a couple of years ago.
How is your new stadium coming along??<laugh>

Already have.

Good old Pompey never disappoint, truly are the laughing stock of world football

It is funny how our local rivals are just that; I think their crest would be recognised for all the wrong reasons in a remote Amazonian village.

Still, I wish them well as it's a great rivalry we have

I am the original SAINTS ALIVE and I do not know how you are using the same name as me. SORT THIS OUT WITH THE MODERATOR - your pathetic comments are giving me a bad name.
TO ALL TRUE FOOTBALL FANS - THIS IS NOOOT SAINTS ALIVE!!

Chill out mush, it's just a bit of banter, there is no way that PFC will fold, they are like the turd that won't flush!
As for being the original Saints Alive, I have used the name since October 2009 on the old 606 and on here, I registered before you and have posted more than you have. If you don't like it you can always change your name, but i'm keeping mine.

Sort it out Saints - Saints Alive (2 words) registered in May, saintsalive (one word) registered in June. Saints Alive came on here one day to point out that he wasn't saintsalive, whereas one of your posters came on here one night to collect saintsalive (after a mega wum) and return him to your own board.

I haven't got enough to do have I <laugh>

Truly sorry for the confusion guys - I AM saintsalive & I aim to be constructive
& not insulting to other clubs or its fans - we all love this game & should respect each other.
Please do not confuse me with Saints Alive - I do not wish to be associated with
pathetic or insulting posts.
Hope you guys hear positive news on the ownership front

Southampton are completely debt free. Are Pompey?

All Saints fans should get on their knees and be grateful that NC spotted us. We were bought by ML, a decent and honourable man, because we had assets and prospects. The trouble with being owned by dubious people is that they don't really care who you are sold onto. Whilst I don't want Pompey to be bought by a billionaire who throws money at them, I certainly want them to stay in business. It's ying and yang...who would be our rivals then. I also know what they feel like when things like this happen.

Well said Fran.

You may have to change your forum name, mate.

Yes you are probably right....but with court case pending 23 Jan 2012, it would appear that maybe he wasnt all that!!!

Mandaric is in court over payments made to Redknapp via Redknapp's bank account in Monaco to avoid paying tax in Britain. That's it. That's a personal matter between him and Redknapp and does not change the fact that Mandaric got Portsmouth back on its feet after the club almost went out of business and got it to the Premier League while being in control of the finances. The later problems occured when Redknapp returned from Southampton and Gaydamak entered the picture then we went chasing the dream without investing in the facilities.
