I know we're supposed to gloat and everything but i genuinely feel sorry for the decent Pompey fans, how much more have they got to go through? don't get me wrong,i want them to stay below us and lose every game but i think we can be a bit more bigger as people than to gloat and ridicule about something like this.Good luck Pompey, hope you get out of this mess but of course stay well below us in the football leagues!

Agree 100% NONE of this is the fault of the Fans .

Let's hope the club can pull through these s**t times. I have respect for Pompey after the similar crap we had to endure and I have no time for anybody that belittles the club and their fans because of all the problems they are facing. The two biggest football clubs in the county of Hampshire have had a nightmare few years (one after the other seemingly). I'm looking forward to the day when it's all over and we can all look toward happier times.

Mandaric wasn't bad before Redknapp joined up with him

I thought it was Storrie who "turned" Mandaric?????? Either way, Mandarics impending court case suggests he was not squeeky clean (most FC owners are not).....before him it was Venables, no?

literally no other club this could happen to other than portsmouth, feel sorry for them

As usual it is the fans that take the hit...which I suspect is why their gates are declining, just as ours did. Trouble is Pompey takes two steps forward, but three steps back with each new owner. Will their misery ever end? We thought we had it bad....but I wouldn't like to be a Pompey fan for love nor money. Surely not going to mean another sale? That would be a catastrophe at the moment. there is no money around....or is there?

Ah but under the FAPP test, they do. That's the point. Despite this, we've (we being football fans in general) had someone who ran Leeds into the ground go on to do the same at Cardiff*, Man City purchased with Phillipino tax-payers cash*, Plymouth purchased by speculators*, Notts county purchased by a fraudster*, Pompey purchased by a gun-runner* and now this! It's a disgrace and bent as a nine bob note. Someone in the PL/FL/FA is dealing under the table.

*Allegedly

But as has already been reported the financial vehicles that are devised and put in place can mean that it is extremely complicated and difficult to find out who actually owns a club and who has a stake in it. Even the Football League admitted they do not have the resources to follow up each avenue of a muddied trail.

Plus Watford purchased by a "businessman" who was on benefits as recently as four years ago, with money not his own and no clue where the money came from. And that doesn't even cover your garden-variety penny-pinchers and fly-by-night Ecclestones out to make a quick buck and flee the sport.

I feel for Pompey fans, because ownership really is a lottery these days...happen to have your team on the market when a rare serious buyer is looking to buy a club, or be lucky enough to have a very wealthy fan, your team can be set. Be unlucky enough not to have this happen, and you're likely to end up at the mercy of the first scoundrel to wave a few pounds at the Football League.

We hit the jackpot; while Markus was undoubtedly much more wealthy than most owners, he too was an unknown quantity upon purchase...he could just as easily have turned out to be a rich man who wanted to get a little richer, and was looking only to make a cursory investment before passing us off to the next contestant. That he was not -- that we were available at the right time and caught the right eye -- is all happenstance.

Sometimes, the lack of due diligence on the part of the FL is understandable; there's only so much one can do to investigate the finances of groups that typically hide behind shell companies, and have the bulk of their assets abroad, and when you have teams hitting administration getting them sold becomes more important than getting them sold to the right owner. Other times, not so much. It's maddening, but such is the state of things, and no amount of these situations will put an end to it.

Until the FA finally have proper rules to keep scumbags out of football clubs... all i can do is chuckle at the continued pfc circus

Mandaric wasn't bad before Redknapp joined up with him

I suspect you may need him again. He wasn't actually at all bad for Pompey, or for the other clubs he's been associated with. It's a shame. I had some hopes that Pompey would come out of their turmoil much stronger, but this latest setback must make the Blue side of Hampshire very low.

Saints fans should remember what our situation was like, just a few years ago. Any right thinking fan wouldn't wish that on any other supporters.

Well done on being a real football fan.....your parents must be proud.

No football fan would want to see another club go out of business, no matter what the circumstances.

You have just made yourself look foolish.

If all this proves to be correct than Pompey clearly have a very serious problem.
As a football fan, it will give me no pleasure at all to see your club in the mire yet again. We may be serious rivals, but for God,s sake we are all football fans.
There is a worrying trend of clubs falling into the hands of dodgy people.
The guy who aquired Birmingham City is held in Malaya on serious money laundering charging - a few hundred million involved.
It is now strongly suspected that the dodgy people who aquired Blackburn Rovers
have borrowed big, using Ewood Park & associated assets as calateral.
It is patently obvious that our football authorities are not fit for purpose.
I think they do their fit & proper persons enquiries in the local post office - they are a joke.
A Southampton die hard I am, but I serously hope there is not more devastating news for Pompey fans - and Michael Appleton must be wondering what the hell he has got in to.

The Skate roll of dishonour just gets longer, money launderers, embezzlers, gun runners, tax evaders etc etc. The club has become a byword for everything that is wrong with modern Football...oh and by the way...<laugh><laugh><laugh>

I am the original SAINTS ALIVE and I do not know how you are using the same name as me. SORT THIS OUT WITH THE MODERATOR - your pathetic comments are giving me a bad name.
TO ALL TRUE FOOTBALL FANS - THIS IS NOOOT SAINTS ALIVE!!

who is the real poster? Is it "Saints Alive" or "Saintsalive" ?

there is only one way to find out......

F I G H T!!!!! (with apologies to Harry Hill)

Sort it out Saints - Saints Alive (2 words) registered in May, saintsalive (one word) registered in June. Saints Alive came on here one day to point out that he wasn't saintsalive, whereas one of your posters came on here one night to collect saintsalive (after a mega wum) and return him to your own board.

I haven't got enough to do have I <laugh>

Hopefully the reprocutions towards Pompey following this arrest warrant are minimal. As previously stated he is one of three members of CIS. Although it would be naive to think the other members knew nothing of how Anatov acquired his wealth. I don't know whether they would be allowed to freeze his assets during the investigation which could be the most damaging action towards PFC.

In the long term though it looks unlikely any significant investment will be made and this could mean Pompey are back in the shop window.

The fit & proper person test is far too difficult to police. How many pubs and businesses up and down the country are owned by people only in name and actually run by those who have been bankrupt or have criminal records?

What FIFA, UEFA & our FA have to do is to no longer allow sole ownership of football clubs, because it's the innocent fans that suffer time and time again. Spain and Germany have different examples of how clubs should be run, but for me it should be just as the name says; a club.

A club is where members(fans) all pay an annual fee to have a share in the club. A board is elected on an annual basis to run the club. The companies accounts are transparent and if the current chairman is not good he is voted out.

If you have played for a larger amateur club sport, you're likely to be all too aware of the drill.

I vote Nicola Cortese to be the southampton chairman

Well, when I read about Pompey's "transfer kitty", I thought for one moment that Meowth had seen the light!

Seriously, I cannot believe that the soap opera continues! I guess that the basic problem is that Pompey doesnt have the infrastructure to attract longterm investors, and i suspect that a line of previous owners have syphoned money out of the club before passing it on to the next chancers.

I can't pretend that I didn't smile when I first heard the news, but I sincerely hope that it does not threaten Pompey's long term future.

Anatov owns 85% of CSI so I would think he was the guy with the cash.

All Saints fans should get on their knees and be grateful that NC spotted us. We were bought by ML, a decent and honourable man, because we had assets and prospects. The trouble with being owned by dubious people is that they don't really care who you are sold onto. Whilst I don't want Pompey to be bought by a billionaire who throws money at them, I certainly want them to stay in business. It's ying and yang...who would be our rivals then. I also know what they feel like when things like this happen.

Couldn't agree more!
