I notice that despite winning 14 out of 19 tests under Stokes (highest win percentage by a captain), we remain second from bottom in the World Test Championship. Mainly because we have been penalised for slow over rates. Penalties are ridiculously weighted, and just makes a mockery of the league. It’s the equivalent of teams having points deducted for time wasting in football.
that's true, though only the last six of the games under stokes count in the current table, and england have won three, drawn one, and lost two. without the points deductions for the 2021-2023 version, we'd've finished 2nd instead of 4th. without the points deduction so far in the current one, we'd be top.

it is. i realised a bit later. i can only think that flashscore, which i use for score updates on my pc and my phone, had put the aus-windies game under tests by mistake initially, and when i went to look later it had disappeared when it should have been on day 2.
