Apparently that’s the first PL match we’ve won without Kane or Son involved for over 5 years!
I bet the number of PL games where neither Kane or Son were playing, is quite low.

Great synopsis as always DH and I agree with what you say.Overall he’s done a fantastic job since coming in. The biggest gripe I had was how he threw the Fulham game in the League Cup, for me that was really poor to make 10 changes when we’re not in Europe. I also thought he threw Vicario to the wolves against Chelsea by playing a kamikaze high line with 9 men, that for me wasn’t brave, it was stupid, we didn’t learn anything from that either because it’s highly unlikely we’ll have 9 men again, that’s like a once a decade thing. Besides those two things there’s nothing to really moan about, a few in-game calls (or lack of) that get questioned but that’s natural for every manager and fans, we always see or want different things to happen, sometimes we the fans were right but in occasions like today the two subs at HT massively paid off when I and one or two others had raised eyebrows, ultimately there’s a reason why he’s a paid football manager and we’re not, lol.
But overall he’s done miles better than we could’ve imagined. To have lost a superstar in Kane as well as team leaders in Hugo and Dier yet still have us very competitive in the league is a huge achievement, especially when you consider the insane amount of injuries we’ve had. He carries himself well in the media too and is a very likeable guy. His footballing philosophy is aligned with our club tradition in so many ways and some, something we’ve not had for the last 3-4 years. The performances have declined in recent months but again, it’s still early days and we can’t deny there hasn’t been valid reasons as to why that might be (injuries).
Some players are definitely on borrowed time but we all knew that. Hopefully a strong summer window and we’ll have a first XI with ideally a bit of depth to really attack his second season in charge.

What are your thoughts on Hojbjerg?
My opinion is that he is a really useful player to have and tonight was proof of that. He did really well and is a real leader.
He’s not an Ange type of player, I get that, but I would be sorry to see him go unless of course we replaced with some kind of marquee signing. I don’t see him as a starter at all, but off the bench he is a really useful player to call on.
) moving to Bayern Munich. For me the issue with Hojbjerg is he can't seem to play 90 minutes of Angeball, which I mostly lay at the door of a couple of ex-Chelsea managers running him into the ground for three seasons so his legs are clearly going, but his attitude and workrate can't be faulted which make him a useful option to call on either if we want to switch up the tactical plan or as a spoiler to see out a gameGreat synopsis as always DH and I agree with what you say.

Romero MOM. Lead by example tonight, didn’t get enticed by the little rat face.prick maupay and beat Toney to every ball.
Has to be said, our football for a good 3 months now has been largely poor. We still maintain having a lot of the ball but we largely do nothing with it. Injuries have no doubt played its part but something is massively missing from the first few months of the season. It’s as if the honeymoon period’s warn off or something. We’re only two short of our best XI tonight, 32 mins in and Flekkens had practically nothing to do.
This is a bit of an exaggeration.
The past two to three months have coincided with an injury epidemic and international tournaments, and yet during that time we've taken in more than one very impressive performance. We were superb against Newcastle, very good against United and brilliant against City. Throw in solid if unspectacular wins against Everton and Bmouth and we can't have that many complaints.
Currently I think we are missing Sarr much more than we realise. He really is the engine in that midfield, the player who will cover every blade of grass which then frees up Bentancur and Maddison to unpick the opposition. Skipp had a good game tonight but the gap in quality and in how they suit Ange's system is obvious.

Newcastle had/ have more injuries than we do so it's not a surprise we played very well against a side that's both physically knackered from a season back in Europe and also missing more players than we were. You've then just said yourself we've had solid if unspectacular wins against Everton and Bournemouth, add in some losses to Brighton, Villa, West Ham and that's why the football hadn't been as good as the opening few months where we were electric to watch.
You can't acknowledge Newcastle's injury problems as an excuse but not ours.
And every team has solid if unspectacular wins, it's usually those games that separate the champions from the also-rans. City had one just this evening, even Pep said so quite openly after the game.
We're in a tough, tough league and almost all teams have players of real quality or at the very least are extremely well drilled as a unit. I've always felt that the honeymoon is over once you've faced every side once; such is a quality of analysis and coaching these days that by the time the second fixture comes round, they will have studied you under a magnifying glass and adapted to make life as difficult as possible.
At that point, tactics generally aren't enough. The only solution is to simply have players of a higher quality.
We briefly had this under peak Poch, where it didn't really matter what the opposition did, the combined strength of system + individual quality was just too good. And I hate to say it, but today's starting line up featured 3 outfield players whose individual level is probably around where Brentford are, albeit one of them (Skipp) player very well until he was withdrawn.
This is a bit of an exaggeration.

I imagine the next few months will see if Skipp can match Sarr’s development in that role. I think he understands what’s needed but he’s just not as good on the ball, or as athletic, as Sarr. If he can improve given game time as a rotational/sub option then that’s good for us. We need HG/club grown players in the squad.
In the summer I imagine we’ll look at Devine and/or recruiting someone who can play Sarr or Maddison’s roles. I wonder if we’ll look at a 6 too. Biss has been inconsistent and is a card magnet and Bentancur hasn’t nailed the position for himself yet either.
