Bit of a fortunate win overall after they could’ve been 2 or 3 up in the first half but take the 3 points all day long at the moment. Great to see Maddison get 85+ minutes, only thought we’d have gotten 70. Sarr will be back for Everton too which will be huge for our midfield as that’ll mean for the first time this season we’ll have a first choice midfield to choose from.
TFFT Deserved win, as much because Brentford are just a bunch of c*nts. Not sure if we had a MotM, but as he was arguably the most creative player for both sides it should probably be Destiny!
If we had a man of the match I might suggest it was Ange, because the 2nd half was a great improvement on the 1st!
It was far from perfect but we got the win. Back in the top 4 and only 3 points off second. I know there are some questions about Ange and some of the players, but overall we would all have taken this position at the start of the season. The football is generally very good as well, which makes it all the more enjoyable. With Son, Sarr and Bissouma back soon we are only going to get better. I absolutely don’t think we will win the league but we will have a massive say in it seeing as we still have to play the three above us.
Insane game. Ange will be hoping we can control things a bit better going forwards. Brentford have a real edge to them, not entirely against their credit. A bit lucky to finish with 11 but we won so it is what it is. Big game at the weekend now. Have to put our stamp on these games (not in a Romero way) and play our football, not get suckered into a scrappy one.
Has anyone noticed that whenever someone takes the piss out of Madders' celebration, it backfires on them horribly? Saka thought he looked clever doing it, only for us to equalise when he was still mugging for the cameras Maupey though he looked clever doing it, only for us to put three past them and Johnson to do it when putting us 2-1 up while Bren and Richy both did it at full time Just a thought, opposition players: maybe acting like a prick gives us reason to wipe that smirk off your face?
Overall he’s done a fantastic job since coming in. The biggest gripe I had was how he threw the Fulham game in the League Cup, for me that was really poor to make 10 changes when we’re not in Europe. I also thought he threw Vicario to the wolves against Chelsea by playing a kamikaze high line with 9 men, that for me wasn’t brave, it was stupid, we didn’t learn anything from that either because it’s highly unlikely we’ll have 9 men again, that’s like a once a decade thing. Besides those two things there’s nothing to really moan about, a few in-game calls (or lack of) that get questioned but that’s natural for every manager and fans, we always see or want different things to happen, sometimes we the fans were right but in occasions like today the two subs at HT massively paid off when I and one or two others had raised eyebrows, ultimately there’s a reason why he’s a paid football manager and we’re not, lol. But overall he’s done miles better than we could’ve imagined. To have lost a superstar in Kane as well as team leaders in Hugo and Dier yet still have us very competitive in the league is a huge achievement, especially when you consider the insane amount of injuries we’ve had. He carries himself well in the media too and is a very likeable guy. His footballing philosophy is aligned with our club tradition in so many ways and some, something we’ve not had for the last 3-4 years. The performances have declined in recent months but again, it’s still early days and we can’t deny there hasn’t been valid reasons as to why that might be (injuries). Some players are definitely on borrowed time but we all knew that. Hopefully a strong summer window and we’ll have a first XI with ideally a bit of depth to really attack his second season in charge.
