Haha, I assume (hope) you mean in a positive way! I was fortunate to spend quite a lot of time in his company at the 150th Open in 2022 at St. Andrews. He is a genuinely nice guy, willing to chat about stuff and give advice and just generally be a friendly person, nothing like the negative persona built up by the media in years gone past.
I had the pleasure of playing at the Emirates club in Dubai today .... Wow what a course/club/set up that place is! It looked amazing and was in such amazing condition, you could tell it had just hosted the Dubai classic!
I've played there thanks to Emirates airlines. I played in a tournament in UK whereby the top 8 got a free 4 day holiday in Dubai including 2 rounds of golf one there and one at the Creek. As you say a set-up!
Not sure about that? It's a strong grip and his hands are a little high. I think he's coming down a little steep on that one.
You laying up before the river going across the fairway or going for the green John ? Where did you end up? I can’t judge the distance on the photo.
You're right, I always had a strong grip and drew the ball, but susceptible to a hook. Hence, why a 3 wood to not end up in the water. Percentage shot.
From memory, it was either a long par for or a par 5. But as I drew, the ball and susceptible to a hook and didn't want to send up in the watch left.
You very fortunate golfer , best I’ve gone is Sy Andrews and a few in Portugal !! Taken me 25. Years to get to 11.7 , not too old to get better I fear - oh if you need a great chipping game do Dan Grieve at Woburn he’s the current ‘guru’ - he is good !!
Thankyou three years of regular lessons got me there it’s not been cheap - I’ve learnt that like physios they only teach you a bit at a time to keep you coming back !! Oh v and once a week practise doing what you’ve been told helps.
I wish I was 11.7 or anywhere near.... I've only been playing a couple of years and had a 6month break in that due to an operation so still a way of that, but hopefully one day! I'm extremely lucky to get to play these places TBF and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have a bench mark score now to beat next time I'm here
Without trying to be boring , it needs weekly golf min once in winter , twice in summer and one practise a week - have lessons watch some videos but I’m a tech nut so ‘think too much ‘ not good for golf - but I could almost teach it now - there are basics , posture , grip , don’t sway , be athletic if you can - but Christ you need infinite patience or natural talent - I’m not blessed at all with either LOL Being fearless of the outcome is useful !!
Haha, I know what you mean, my plus 6 handicap nephew was trying to eliminate my hip sway last week as that is apparently a big part of my inconsistency. Great game, and sometimes bloody annoying.
I'm having lessons and they're great, just my work schedule doesn't always help, I travel internationally a lot etc. with me ( and most golfers I guess ) it's the inconsistency that kills me, I'll have a round at 82, then next time shoot 102
Until two to three years ago I was all over the world too so golf was fitted in , it’s no good at all but I’m 66 so it was hard to get the energy after long flights and the work and body clock . I’ve improved with stability working back in the UK - could be a tough ask for you but stick at it!!
