Clough should never have gone there and the Leeds board should never have appointed him. He'd spent years slagging them off. They quickly realised they'd dropped a bollock and got rid of him. That group of players were pig headed enough to get relegated just to spite him, so it was the correct decision to get rid.

Ultimately it eventually worked in Clough's favour, you could argue. Would he have won two European Cups with that Leeds side determined not to play for him?

I'm not saying it's an identical situation, but we've replaced a popular manager with someone the support already had big reservations about, and he's already got us going backwards. We've seen all this before, if not at this speed.

It’s pretty clear you want rid of Beale. How do you think the club should handle it? Now, or when window closes? Do we put Dodds back as caretaker? Who is out there now you think we can bring in that will deliver the style of attacking football we all want to see?

MBs coaching abilities seem to be universally recognised unfortunately that doesn’t mean he is good at moulding a team and getting results. The double act of manager and coach has been around a long time for a reason different qualities needed I know a lot of modern coaches are managing to combine the two but doesn’t look like MB can. If they aren’t going to bite the bullet then we need a big character to work with him but I can’t see that happening.

I think you are bang on here.
You could actually say it appears Speakman doesn't know that he doesn't know the qualities required to manage the club but he really thinks that he does know and better than anyone else.

That's quite a bad combination character wise and explains why we are in this latest self created mess.

Yes! So what is that reason?
So why has he switched to a zonal defence? Why are we playing more narrow? If you can see those things aren't working well, why can't Michael Beale, a man who has coached at coached at Chelsea, Liverpool, Sao Paulo, Rangers, Aston Villa, and QPR? Or can he see those things aren't working well and there is a reason that he's playing that way?

He’s clearly a very good number 2, jury is massively out on him as the main man, he hasn’t even completed a full season as a head coach/manager so was always a huge risk appointing him, brave or stupid by the club? Guess we’ll know soon enough

I hope, indeed pray, that part of the problem is that the hierarchy are still learning themselves how to manage a football club. They obviously are committed to developing young players and seem to dogmatically believe a head coach is the right way to manage the team.
Maybe experience is showing there is more to team management than just skill coaching.
    I hope.

In my opinion we will be closer to the bottom 8 and our youngsters will have their confidence crushed, just my opinion. Value of our young players will evaporate quickly

And yet everyone wants them in the PL. How does that work then?

It's really quite simple - the coaching team are massively out of their depth and haven't a clue how to change things when plan A is unravelling before them - this leads to bewildered players questioning the bench and the 3 academy coaches hiding away in the dugout for long spells.

So why do you think Plan A isn't working? What is, for example, putting Ba and Pembele on, if not trying to change things?
Why do you think he started Pritchard instead of Ba?

Coz he is out of his depth. Using the same tactics against nufcs press as he did v Preston was suicide and he stuck with it for the whole game. 1 glaring example of him being utterly clueless in the world of football management.

Putting pembele on for seelt playing out of position is genius. Give ya head a shake mate if you think that's an example of shaking things up.

So, what should he have done against Newcastle's press?

Not tried to beat it with 5 or 6 passes - directly cost us a goal btw.
He had 2 weeks to come up with a counter option like maybe 2 or 3 passes then a clip into the area between their press and back 4 - that would have led to them tweaking their press taking the pressure off our back 5 or 6.

It's not genius level coaching this - and it's beyond beale and speakman ffs

What should he have done against Newcastle? Cos everyone who I spoke to after the game that was pissed off said he didn't attack them. Two of their goals came from their pace causing us issues at the back. Had he pressed higher we'd of been walloped.

See post above yours. I was on about how he failed so badly to counter their press - read the bloody post before spouting off about stuff you know nowt about I'd advise.
Are you on a wind up? Time to ignore you
