Why would he want to leave the "The project" etc etc etc. Must be a mistake surely? I'm glad he's keen on the move like, it'll piss them off up the road. Also it'll put to bed the the whole "Howe wouldn't leave if England come calling", Because I think that lot think "why would anyone want to leave". If England come knocking he'd put the Tyne Bridge in his review mirror.
Nope - hull were under very little pressure which is why it was so quiet and like watching paint dry frankly. If we'd been pressing the and getting about them the crowd would've responded to that.
I’m not sure we did mind, I remember Rusyn chasing them down across the 3 of them and no one backing him up. If you are pressing they all have to or it’s non existent. The moment Hull won the ball, O’Nien was looking for Carvalho to jump on, that’s the only press I saw and they did too, because just after half time, they floated the ball over O’Niens head as he went to cover.
I totally disagree mate. It was flat because it was slow, inaccurate, one dimensional. We were winning ball back. We didn’t deserve to lose that game, Hull won the lottery with the our defending for that goal but we don’t deserve to win because give it Clarke run into 3 people is daft and we have no central attacking incisive threat of substance. Jobe was wasteful and slow on the ball but won a good few balls on that zone in front of the defence.
Not as a team. as individuals which made it very easy for them to pass it around at the back. Was like a training session one man press drop back into your slot press drop back etc. They did nothing with it but in general were comfortable on the ball. Until they scored possession stats were about 50/50 Only time we really had them on the back foot was after they scored panicked a bit and went deep I think this is one of the issues far to ridged no freedom to double and treble up on the press Seems like overnight all the spontaneity has gone out of the team.
Sorry but if you watched the game you would know that we did press at times and won the ball high up the pitch on several occasions, but we didn't do much with it.
They did press as a team on several occasions, and forced them into errors, but we did nothing with the ball. Then on other occasions we just seemed to sit back
They did press at various points in the game, and caused them to give the ball away on several occasions. Then other times they seemed to sit back and let them have the ball.
Only time I remember we had bodies on the press was after they scored and dropped back very deep. Which allowed the whole team to move up 20 yards. Beale is obviously working on a team shape with and without the ball but at the moment its at the expense of everything else Players dont look like they know what they are "allowed" to do
I was there so was watching but must have missed our incredible press coz it was flat as out and so passive. That's the opposite of what happens when we successfully press a team at home.
They did pass around us at times, decent are capable of doing that. We were poor, yet we were still probably better than them, more possession, more corners and shots we just never looked like scoring. Neither did they until they got a bit of luck
Never said it was a incredible press, you said we didn't press which was written Ng as we did on several occasions and forced them into errors. Problem was we did nothing with it and never looked like scoring. Even though we were poor we didn't deserve to lose that game, Hull had about 2 shots and got lucky with the deflection
We did make more effort to press against Hull than in previous games but it was a bit half hearted. Needs a lot more intensity, not sure we've got it in us at the moment.
I was there. Freezing my tits off and sober. No one was saying we did it well or played well but there was a determined attempt to win the ball back quickly on a number of occasions then some messy bits.
From what i was told, not a fact, we are looking at centre forward who is not a boy. i don't know anymore than that. It came from an agent in the midlands.
Agreed we did an initial press n if we didnt regain possession quickly we dropped into our shape and let them pass it around at the back. We did pressed them as soon as it was played into midfield We lacked pace with our press tho, players looked leggy and thats why it was ineffective press for the most part
