Post wasn't specifically directed at you Roly (Had to check I never replied to one of your posts for a second there. I was meaning in general.
Seeing an awful lot of negativity surrounding tactics, recruitment, injuries, accounts, training, squad selection etc.
Seems to be an awful lot of critics who make lots of complaints and raise lots of questions without delving deeper and perhaps offering realistic solutions.
A lot of it strikes me as impatience and spoilt bastard's syndrome.
No, that definitely could be aimed at me. Not all of it - 40% growth two years straight is exceptional. Injuries Howe carries a part of the blame, for being so rigid early in the season. Tactics, we just seem to do the same thing every week. Sometimes it works but is it really a huge coincidence that we’ve gone on this very poor run? Or have teams wised up to closing Bruno, playing in the hole where we never have a DM, advancing into midfield because we don’t have a CAM either, and so on. Just observing, Howe clearly knows more than I ever will but he cannot be beyond reproach.
I hated the recruitment. When the team is as average as ours, you don’t buy subs and kids, you strengthen the first XI. Just like every aspirational club does. I don’t know what we were thinking.
Solitions - change the role of Bruno, get someone to sit particularly when teams have dangerous attackers. Prioritise strengthening the first XI particularly in very weak positions like RW, LB and RCB. Maybe work on something new. As has been said, why didn’t we go to 5 at the back today? Why was KDB given even more freedom than we offered Foden, who is watching the match and not seeing these problems? Dummett is an excellent man marker, why not just be destructive to get a point?
Personally I feel Howe is in a rut and from his time at Bournemouth his answer was always to just play the same way and hope they get out of it. He seems stuck and idea-less.
