We're not desperate for a CB. Konate has been more than admirable and Quansah too.

But... If you want the best players you have to get them while they're available- if you go for them when you need them you pay over the odds...

Although £77mil is probably over the odds anyway.

the £77m refers to VVD i think but the whole thing is so badly written it's difficult to be certain apart from being fairly sure we aren't paying anywjere near that for a CB unless it is the finished article

Absolutely no need to go buy a 20 year old CB. If gonna buy a CB needs to be ready to step into first time right this second with 3-4 years experience to come in and be long term vvd replacement

Goncalo Inacio's value is about £40m (release clause,if true)

Some say we have put in an initial bid of £26m or so

    That's another one then.
What we on now 3 or 4 that are already wanting to leave after half a season.

See this is the problem for emerging leagues that just want to throw money at it. The basic standard has to be there to keep the talent happy, you can't just leap from 0 to 100 by adding a few over the hill star names.
They need to build the homegrown talent and have something that you can then add the star names to.

They could have established a really good future for themselves with the money they're spending on the likes of Ronaldo, but that would have taken time and of course as with every adventure into sport the Middle East tries to take, they just want to jump straight into the Vegas level of razzmatazz cause that's what sells the story rather than any real interest in the actual sport.

when you've peeps like Ronaldo chastising players for making an actual tackle and refs fawning over him.and there's 700 people bothered to come then I guess the reality sets in that you've retired in all bit name and are there for dirty money.

but I think the families get the absolute shock of their lives by having to live like prisoners 24/7 and are telling these guys in no uncertain terms that they leave now or next holiday they are not returning with them.

He'd be at the airport with a ground-to-air missile launcher.

I am surprised he took his family tbh. Most expats fly back and forth to avoid their family being there.

I suspect he has been told that his England hopes are toast if he stays.

at this point he would be 34 after the euros no?

if he even makes the squad he should be retired after it no matter what.

he's a weak link in the first 11 along with Maguire

this is possibly the first tournament England should be genuine 100% favourites to win. only Southgate can **** thst.

    pickford (weak link)
    walker stones maguire(weak) shaw(weak)
    trent rice
saka Bellingham foden (not the flopper)
    kane

a nice 4231 to get the most from the genuine attacking options and trent fills in at 6.

I expect to see foden benched for grealish who just wants to flop
I expect trent to sit out and henderson play

I don't know if Shaw will be fit but he does alright for England attacking wise but is and always has bee positional suspect.

Maguire is a real weak link in that and pickford is poor with ball at feet and obviously with his tragically short arms.

if England can focus in the positives, and that front 6 I name are massive positives, then there's enough to win this imo.

the main teams to watch as France and Spain. the hosts Germany have a lot to do.

if we get to last 4 and put in henderson and grealish we are shooting ourselves in the foot.

then after this euros henderson is gone. no major international side would not retire and aging journeyman. he is not messi or Ronaldo.

oh and can you imagine that nice goodbye henderson wished for off anfield he he turned up in chav colours.

    or spurs colours.

    lols.

    mascherano got savaged here
    suarez got savaged.
