I once had a row with some Sunderland supporters on Seven Sisters Road, Tottenham, who had a roadside stand with a big 'Sunderland against Apartheid' banner complete with the club crest.
I don't recall which country they had a problem with but that didn't concern me, it was how they'd included all of us in their cause. To me it's no better than having the same banner wanting the age of consent dropped to 14, or whatever.
It obviously hadn't dawned on these lads that the blacks, in Tottenham, often feel discriminated against and treat differently.
I tried explaining my point but they just called me out as prejudiced and blinkered ...

My mate got slashed off a black Tottenham fan on 7 sisters escalator years ago. Also remember our bus going through Broadwater Farm and seeing "White Mens (sic) Are ****ers" painted in 6 ft high letters on a wall. There are black racists just are there are white ones.

I doubt the banner lads thought they'd change a single mind, they were just doing it for themselves imo.

Now people will know why the banners are the match we're justified.
This is a sackable level decision for me.
