Easier said than done as that means actually considering who else is out there, good enough, to make us play like a team challenging for the league and other silverware.

The footballing side, that thing that matters the most, was screwed the moment Gill and Fergie left. We had no proper DOF so the way we recruited was either the new CEO Woody buying like a fanboy, or passing the responsibility on to the manager.

The manager would then be sacked and a new guy comes in. But he'd have the players of the previous manager and the fanboy mercenaries Woody bought. So the new manager was then tasked with finding his own players and Woody would buy a few more fanboy signings.

The manager was sacked, now the new guy comes in and he has the players personally recruited by the previous two managers who both had different styles of play, along with the mercenaries Woody bought.

You can see where this is going. This went on and on and we end up with a mish mash of a squad full of players bought by different managers BECAUSE the whole structure of the club is wrong. And because of it, the next manager is doomed to fail.

I am sure Ten Hag did not want the responsibility of choosing his players. That responsibility was dumped on him. So what's he going to do? He goes with what he knows for the position he needs - Martinez, Antony, Amrabat, Onana are ones he's worked with and knows. Now when some of those don't work out here he gets the blame. He shouldn't.

The way a good club is run is the CEO and DOF and club overall decide the football ethos, they recruit a manager they feel can deliver that. Then the manager says which positions he needs to fill and the DOF finds the players, and will sometimes overrule the manager if need be on the one to sign.

I'm pretty sure that's the way it works at Livpl. I bet Klopp says the positions he needs and Schmadtke and Edwards before him gave him the players to choose from. I wouldn't be surprised if they hadn't overruled him on one or two either. Why? Because they're the fcking experts and it's their job to know.

Our dickheads like Murtough, and Woody before him are on the gravy train. Clueless ****s put in place by tge Glazers to bankroll them and nothing more, quite happy to dump the responsibility onto the manager or give something for the fans to stay happy like signing Pogba, Ronaldo, Di Maria, Sanchez etc. They have poisoned the club.

I love the idea that people can comment on a stadium they've never been anywhere near because they've read something somewhere.

The stadium in itself is fine, the capacity is sufficient. The facilities do need an upgrade though, but this doesn't mean a completely new ground and rebuild at all. I think it should stay where it is.

Someone needs to put some thought into how they can provide decent concourses, and serve a pint quickly. This element needs ripping out and redoing.

A roof leak just means new cladding, that's all.

This post is spot on for me around previous managers. Just about every manager you have appointed since Fergie retired came with some pedigree. Allof these was then backed with significant funds and top draw salaries.
I struggle to understand why the Glazers are always at fault?

But the money people will look at the revenues that a new stadium can provide, concerts, American football and all that crap. I seem to recall that the team behind the Spurs new stadium were consulted and their view was that a new stadium can be built, critically, without disrupting matchdays at OT as is. That has to be the deciding factor.

Moyes was given Maroune Fellaini on deadline day as his only signing when he'd lined up Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Toni Kroos.

So no, he wasn't backed.

I think you need to read my later post in response to MarkBlow for the answer to this.

The point I made in that is the responsibility for selecting and buying players has been dumped on the managers with little or no support or oversight by those who should be responsible for signings. And those buffoons who should be responsible have been put in place by the Glazers and over the past 10 years have been largely incompetent and moreso completely destructive. No well run football club approaches recruitment the way we do. From Liverpool to Brighton, you can see how it should be.

The irony is they're not being backed, they're being made the scapegoats by the failings of the club.

"This team has just won the league, why aren't we immediately top", with no thought given to the fact it was an ageing squad that Ferguson had had to patch together because there was "no value in the market" which simply meant they had given him limited funds.

Moyes was then given Fellaini and thrown under a bus.

Anyone who understands United or football to any degree could see this. The centre halves, full backs, and the entire midfield needed replacing.

Social media ****wits however, well they drive the narrative.

Moyes wasn't given time. Or any backing. It's bollocks to suggest he was.

He was then replaced by an absolute moron.

I still remember having running battles with UIR about the absolute dross LVG was having us do. And him claiming it was revolutionary and the future of football <laugh>

TBH It wouldn't have mattered, there's a fairly vocal Moyes out brigade in our fan base, despite us having our 2nd best era, if we make Europe again this season it'll be our best. Personally, I'm enjoying the ride, we were 2nd division when I started watching, close to our worst season in history, didn't even make the play-offs, but I'm not blind to the validity of their argument. We were praised for our defensive play v Arsenal, but that was only because it was Arsenal. We play the same way against pretty much everyone, Moyes sets up not to lose, and hopes to pinch a goal for the win. That isn't the 'West Ham way', but neither is it United's. Even if he'd done well, there would still have been a decent sized portion that wanted him out.
 
People wanted him out immediately and just couldn't accept any change, and he did talk some ****e and make stupid statements.

But he wasn't supported. By the Glazers etc.

He just wasn't.
