This could be possible but what’s the point really. We’re not going to learn anything about Scarlett playing in those leagues and he’s going to get opportunities for game time in January and probably beyond.

I don’t think that’s a given based on how the season’s gone so far for other academy players, mate.

MLS and the other leagues HBIC listed aren’t amazing but if there’s a possibility Scarlett (and/ or Veliz) can get a run of starts in any of them, I think it’s worth letting him go, it’s far better than a 2 or 3 minute cameo here and there with us.

Apparently Spurs will let Dier and Lloris leave for free in January? Hojbjerg also surplus to requirements but the club want a fee.

If they can get those 3 gone and 3-4 in (preferably 1-2 asap) then that would be a good window.

The possible issue with Dier leaving in January one way or another is he's been linked with Sporting, and him potentially joining Sporting surely sees Goncalo Inacio join either Saltypool or the Bottlers given they're both strongly linked with him

“Obviously if we can do business early it's great for us, not just because of losing Romero but there's a whole month there - why waste it?”

Ange’s way with words just hits different. Why waste it indeed. New CB on 1st Jan, please. CM and a forward in by the 7th.

You can’t keep someone you don’t need because of that reason.

As MLS is pretty much the mid-90s Premier League, where some ageing Serie A and La Liga players top up their pensions in squads containing far more Championship-level players than your nostalgia filter will allow people to remember, there's certainly something to learn if Scarlett spends half a season there

Although for the sake of the Loan Watch thread we should probably loan him to an Eastern Conference team, as there's a chance of me remembering that he played a match that day...

Don’t forget Jota, who I wouldn’t be surprised to see us get on loan (maybe with an option) given the injuries and other absentees we’ll be dealing with early 2024.

It would be a crying shame if Hugo's last match for us ends up being that debacle at Newcastle last season.

Is there a way he can play against Burnley for a proper send off, or at the very least come off the bench?
That is the awkward thing: several players have got opportunities to erase the last memory being a ****show, for example Sanchez coming on against Brentford (and Dier;s sub appearance against Chelsea would have, but starting him against Wolves undid that) but Hugo's going to forever be stuck with that as his swanson

So does that mean Hugo isn't registered and cannot play? Couldn't we just send him on with 'Whiteman' on the back of his shirt? No one outside the club and residents of Degerfors have a clue who Alfie is anyway, so it might work.

He can essentially play but I doubt he will.

Didn’t even make the squad when Ange selected two keepers on the bench so presumably he’s fourth choice at the moment.

Hopefully there’s some good media things though, along with the announcement of a testimonial at some stage, he’s earned it.

Hugo's registered

...and Whiteman's injured, and I think even the most myopic of PL refs might notice the bloke with Austin on the back of his shirt doesn't look like Brandon Austin
