Theoretically we still can, as the transfer window doesn't open until Monday

Odds of him tripping and scuppering his move due to injury if he does anyone...?

One of my favourite memories, when he ran the length of the pitch after Lucas scored v Ajax only pausing to slap an Ajax players head as he ran past <laugh>

I’m sure there will be “fans” who’ll only focus on some of his more recent poorer performances from the 447 he played (and there weren’t many in the grand scheme of things), but for me he’s the best spurs goalkeeper I’ve seen in my lifetime. Pretty much years and years of dross before he joined us.

11 years of loyalty. Thank you Hugo. Absolute club legend. :emoticon-0152-heart

100% agree. I was lucky to have been brought up on Big Pat between the sticks, so a bit spoiled.

I loved Hugo, his commitment to my club and for some outstanding contributions over the years. Goalkeepers have a thankless job, as people only tend to remember the occasions when it all goes wrong.

Thanks for everything Hugo! Oh and the wife is gutted, she used to lust after him...

He wasn't helped by having an atrocious defence and porous midfield in front of him for much of the past 5 years. I won't remember his unfortunate knack of embarrassing gaffes in big matches with any fondness, nor do I think he was ever the right character (or position) to wear the armband, but by and large I will remember him fondly.

More than anyone else, his arrival on these shores together with De Gea totally revolutionised the way the English game viewed the GK role, with clubs soon after demanding far more versatile and technically gifted players, which in turn was evolved a step further with the arrivals of Ederson and Allison.

Is it weird that I genuinely forgot Hugo used to be clean shaven?

Best keeper we've had since Clemence and IMHO was as good as him.
Some of his saves were outstanding and for any mistake that cost us points there were 10 games where he saved us and won us points.

Loved shouting HUUUUUUUUUGOOOO after one of his saves.

Legend gets thrown around too easily but think he deserves to be recognised as a spurs legend imo

Because a true fan would not "concentrate on his recent mistakes"?

Yeah 100% a legend in my eyes.

Any quality player that gives this club their best years automatically qualifies for legend status for me. As you’ve said he saved us countless more times than he cost us and some of those saves were out of this world. The one against Leverkusen in the CL has to be one of the best saves in the competition’s history in my opinion, his penalty save vs Aguero was also iconic, the south stand erupted when he done that.

Hopefully he can enjoy a bit of success at LAFC just like Bale did. More than deserves it.

Hats off to Hugo, a Spurs legend in my eyes, a top GK, a great servant and 11 years working for Levy takes some doing.

We all make judgements of some sort tbh.

I think that a lot of newer chelsea/City fans are plastics... just like I thought that a lot those newer supporters United in the 90s-2000s were or the London based Liverpool fans of the 70s and 80s were. Maybe harsh but I genuinely think that people new to football who support a team with no family tend to choose successful teams.

I think Roo's point might have been (am not him so can't say for certain) that a true spurs fan would not dismiss what a valuable player Lloris was just cos of his mistakes in the last 2 to 3 seasons.

RCL’s sort of right, but I was referring mainly to the internet mainstream social media warriors who think it’s trendy to be constantly negative about literally everything, and spend their lives berating everything spurs. In particular, there will be some with very short memories that aren’t intelligent enough to look past Lloris being a bit iffy at his near post or falling flat on his arse for most penalties, despite the outrageous saves he made in abundance over the years.

He had his flaws like all players do, but he was a top keeper IMO.
1 clean sheet in every 3 games, with a bang average defence in front of him for many of his 11 years.

Tons of little virgin wet wipes on social media that try using Lloris’ last 12-18 months as a means to define his whole Spurs career definitely ain’t true fans. Most of them probably weren’t watching football when he was pulling off some of the best saves you’ll see.

We should in theory be able to iron out a roughly £4m difference within 24-48 hours.

Hopefully get that done and he can play against Burnley.
