I dont want KLD to sell up. But lets be honest, for a while Drumaville were good, then Short was. Each ran out of steam. No idea about KLD, maybe he has his eyes on bigger prizes. At the end of the day we are now an attractive club to buy for a range of people. Pushing for the prem, loads of young players worth big bucks, a structure that needs little overhaul. Could be a perfect time for a new owner to come in, or a terrible time. I wouldnt be dismissive of it personally, there is always someone better for every job.
Once again the vocal minority are spouting off about Speakman and alleged lack of investment by KLD. Its a load of ****e, good money has been invested and we are making progress yet this is not enough for the "I want it all and I want it now brigade". I sincerely hope that this rumour is wrong as I can see better days ahead it just takes time.
Disagree heavily on both Drumaville and Short ever being good. Both put money in but with absolutely no plan, no structure or anything. A new owner could be better but if that leads to ripping up everything and starting again then what is the point?
Rather we stayed in the championship for a few years steadily building as we are than rip it all up for someone to come in and chuck money at it and pray, we’ve tried that route before and it lead to Scunthorpe away
It's hardly been mentioned apart from a bit more today, if a few words on social media are too much for then owners then perhaps they are in the wrong business. Everyone I speak to is fully behind the structure.and sustainable plan, but some can recognise that certain areas need quick improvement if we are to achieve that aim
Haway man. Drumaville got the ball rolling and prem footy. Short bankrolled some class footballers. Maybe both chased the dream, but what was it, 10 years in the prem. Shorts mistake was not selling sooner, but like lots of owners he had pumped in so much of his own money it was a tough sale to make. Some of the footballers we had under Short were ridiculously good. He might not have had the football vision KLD has but he backed this club big time. It may well be that bigger fish than KLD are looking at us now. Wouldnt suprise me. We arent far short of becoming a promoted club that could make it stick. We may well be attractive for some with deeper pockets.
Great Post. Put Shorts backing into this recruitment team and structure and its a whole different ball game. He was rubbish at appointing people to run the club
Its all well and good putting money into the club but if you appoint absolute footballing clowns like they both did what is the point? All that money chasing a seat at the top table just to finish mid table at best. Barely a decent cup run either. What was the point in spending the money?
That is my point. Appointing the correct team around you is 80% of good ownership and they both failed so there is no point talking about the money the put in when it was spent by idiots.
Plus he gave Keane the heave ho Short just needed a Speakman. His investment was levels above anything we have known. Not always well advised. But he fronted up big time for us up until the last 18 months or so. Now I am more on board with KLD vision, and it is based on the current environment, not the Short one. I think he has made some shrewd moves. He has made us appealing to some serious money men, should they want to take on a football club in touching distance of the prem.
Sadly, finishing mid table prem is success these days. Money dictates it. Do you think KLD will do anything to push us into European football once promoted? I suspect it will be seasons of mid table competitivness at best. Personally that is ok for me, but it will be just a different way of achieving what we have achieved under other owners.
Exactly this, we need to build slowly and when the time is right im sure we will get promoted Would be keen on rigg getting some game time and Watson being on the bench more as feel they could be big players next season for us if still in the league
I agree the sensible supporters can see that progress is being made but that is not enough for some. Perhaps I'm a little sensitive to what I consider to be unfair criticism. I still think that KLD is our best chance in years to establish firm foundations and advance as a club. Anyway time will tell, apparently good things come to those that wait.
Achieving mid table prem football with this method will be success as that will secure the clubs future for a long time. Achieving mid table prem football under Short effectively ended up with the club in league one on life support.
Im not convinced by Jewi, think Watson has the higher upside so thats why i would go for him. Agree about Dack dropping off the bench, no point having him, Adil, Pritchard, Jobe and Rigg in the same squad - all can play the no10 position Was chatting to a scout who was at our u21 game vs Arsenal and he just slagged off Dack. Said he was lazy and so slow, said he used to be a massive fan but he doesn't see the value in us having him in the 1st team squad
I don't think it helps our owners that our geographical and historical rivals just happen to be owned by a rich country. That aside I think we would all prefer the slowly but surely approach our owners seem to be taking. My point is...there will be a lot of fans wanting progress to be a lot quicker.
Lazy signing based on pritch leaving, I like jewi’s attitude but your are 100% more qualified than me so won’t argue haha, I think this season was always play offs at absolute best, it’s time to give the likes of Rusyn a run now and seeing where we end up, top 10 isn’t a disaster the league is strong this year and the 3 coming down next year will be weaker than the 3 that came down this year
Dack that sat in as defensive midfield in the u21 game, provided the cross for our goal. He wasn't lazy, he did his job and allowed the other attacking players freedom to go and play
