This could mean another by-election, if upheld. Apparently he tried to plead ignorance as the rules had recently changed, but the committee pointed out that he had broken the rules in their previous form too. What a knob.
Has the quality of the people becoming MPs ever been lower?

“A CONSERVATIVE MP who was filmed offering to lobby ministers and leak confidential information to a fake gambling company faces being booted out of Parliament.

Scott Benton was found to have committed a “very serious” breach of Parliamentary rules in comments to undercover reporters.

The Standards Committee ruled he was clearly motivated by financial gain and said the message he gave was that he was “corrupt” and “for sale”.

The committee recommended a 35-day suspension, which is likely to trigger a by-election in his marginal Blackpool South seat.”

Suella Braverman accepted an invitation to a small boat launch and was presented with the Last Leg’s “Dick of the Year” award. Sweet.

I am certainly no fan of Piers Miorgan, but the judge today ruled he was involved in the Prince Harry saga (phone hacking) with the practice of while editing the Daily Mirror.
But wasn’t asked for a statement or called as a witness to defend himself.

One interview I saw suggested that the Mirror Group didn’t want to put him on the stand for fear of him lying, as seems to have been the case in the Leveson Inquiry.
Someone else was previously jailed for phone hacking, can’t remember his name, but if Morgan has been caught out AND lied on oath at the Leveson Inquiry, he should expect to be jailed.
I listened to a short video with James O’Brien and it appears that the only reason the Mirror Group has ended up in court is because they were/are a PLC and couldn’t make the problem go away by throwing money at the plaintiffs, something Murdoch has done to the tune of more than £1 billion.

Wow. The IDF killed those hostages while they were holding up a white flag! This really is karma, sadly. Not karma for those poor hostages though. They get shat on twice. Violent delights will have violent ends.

The ex Defence Minister, Ben Wallace, said he was cancelling the VIP helicopter contract so he could use the £40 million it would save where it was most needed.
Grant Shapps, the current Defence Minister, has reversed that decision, reportedly at the insistence of Sunak.
I have worked for companies that have required me to get from A-B using my car or public transport, reimbursing me for the cost.
However, there was always a caveat that they would only reimburse the cheapest option, so if I chose to drive and the reimbursement for the fuel was greater than the cost of a standard return train ticket, I would have to pay the excess.
Sunak and the others need to be paying the excess when choosing a more expensive means of transport.
Never mind all this “it utilises his time more efficiently” bollocks.

Apparently there are 16 million people in the UK with a disability, based on figures from 2021/22.
This is equal to 24% of the population.
The government doesn’t have a great track record with regards to helping those with disability and to underline that record they have got rid of the senior position of minister for disability, leaving just junior ministers to replace them, who will have little or no clout to help the disabled they are in position to serve.
Meanwhile, we now have a Minister for Legal Immigration and another Minister for Illegal Immigration.
I’m struggling to see where the government’s priorities are.

Surprised everyone's favourite Tory Baroness, Michelle M̶o̶a̶n̶ Mone hasn't been featured more here.

Astounding level of self entitlement and bizzare lack of awareness that providing useless PPE via her husbands magically created company while creaming off 60million might annoy people.

I thank her however for resurrecting my favourite Father Ted joke by saying she'd not benefited from the 60m, it was just 'resting' in a trust fund (in her name).

If you want a summary of this dirty little affair, first 6mins should do it. ->

I don`t know what`s worse - her greedy, lying, corrupt behaviour, or the process that allows her to become a member of the House of Lords, unelected. The whole system stinks, and we need reform.

While it is 100% justified and what should happen, watch this turn into a ****show.

The US Supreme Court and its Republican majority will overrule this you would imagine (politically Partizan courts, what a smart idea…).

Now watch Republican states start disqualifying Biden for invented reasons as retaliation and the Supreme Court possibly not overturning it because it’s politically partizan.

The US legal system is broken
Trump can’t be convicted of anything because of this
I remember learning at school about the separation of the Executive, Legislative and Judicial in the US. Not true any more and a big problem

Regardless of the veracity of the Colorado decision and what may/may not happen next, I find it staggering that people would vote a criminal for President. He would be committing perjury when being sworn in and makes the promise to protect the constitution.

I'm continually amazed at what some people will think is acceptable, as long as the end justifies the means. Trump's MAGA army genuinely seem to believe that he's already proved he's the best man for the job from his last stint in the White House, and they're happy to believe that the election was stolen by the 'criminal' Biden family, ergo they were being patriots, not taking part in an insurrection at all...baffles me how people can be so blind.
It's not much better in this country across large swathes of the population - we love a good 3 word slogan and someone to blame for all societies ills.
