You're correct. 2005/06. They had a relatively weak group then, too.
Villarreal, Benfica and Lille. Lots of draws and they finished bottom on H2H with Lille, I think.
This is also the worst defensive performance by an English team in the group stage. 15 goals.
Utd conceded 11 in the group stage in the Treble season, when Bayern and Barcelona were in the same group. They did however manage to score 20 and remain unbeaten. This team were never going to manage that.
This was a weak group, Bayern apart (although they never got out of arcing gear). No English team should have failed to qualify from
It.

The youngster who scored the Belgian's opener is one to watch. Lots of clubs are scouting him.
He's played a load of minutes for his age and is already capped for Belgium.
His name is Arthur Vermeeren. A January move wouldn't be surprising.

Captain Scarlet cleared of a misconduct charge for comments after Arsenal lost to Newcastle, as apparently the word "disgrace" has much milder connotations in Spanish than it does in English and he wasn't to know better.

I hadn't realised this was a different Mikel Arteta to the one who has spent almost half his life working in the UK.

I also can't see any other word or phrase in his post match comments that might sound like he is undermining the authority of the officials.

I mean he only said:

"I have to be here now to say it is not acceptable,"

"We didn't deserve to lose the match. We lose the match because of the clear and obvious decisions. It's embarrassing. A disgrace. That's what it is - a disgrace.

I am wasting my time. We are wasting our time. I don't want to be in the hands of these people."

"It's embarrassing what happened - how this goal stands, in the Premier League - this league we say is the best in the world. I've been 20 years in this country and now I feel ashamed. It's a disgrace and there's too much at stake here.

"The outcome is nowhere near the level this league needs to have. It's not good enough. I feel embarrassed to be part of this."

Nothing to see here. Jog on.

As Claudine Gay was first to say : it depends on the context.
