Hull City 'eye up' January transfer move for former Man United and Bournemouth forward - Hull Live (hulldailymail.co.uk)
Will be a test of how good this system actually is for now as when you take away Philogene’s goals and assists we are sitting pretty in 20th. Players like Twine, Delap etc need to step up now.
Or he just thinks that is not the way he wants to go and wants to build a young side that can all develope as a team together for next season and that is why he is looking at the players he has and is doing. Would not be the first manager to ever assemble a young team that went on to good things.
Or he could focus on going up this season out of what is s relatively wide open league. The way football goes he might not get next season.
So. Where exactly were we in the league the game before he signed? That's your test of Liams system. As was the 10th placed form during his period in charge last season.
Mid table is where I think we’ll be this season, i just want to see how we adapt without our top scorer and assister. We are much further along then we were last season so yes it is a test for the system at this stage.
He could yes i agree, but would the Team and Club be ready for that not saying it is not or is but i am sure Acun and Tan wanted a top 6 finish if possible but was not to worried if they never went up this season and seems to me the players they have got and are looking at would form a Team that would be very strong next season and better placed to go up and remain up. Grab top players at a young age now in each transfer window the more top quality one's you can get will attract others and by next season you have a top Team who can not just go up but can also stay up and compete.
The expectation is 10th or above. Based on the metrics of 28 games last season and the fact we're level with the playoffs nearly half way through this. We'll be 10th to 8th I reckon. We'll need some luck with injuries and some success in January recruitment to be genuine top 6. Can't be a one man team but then, top 10 is decent progress at this stage of the project.
I'm not really seeing it as wide open. Top 4 seem pretty well entrenched leaving about 10 clubs competing for 2 playoff spots. To me that's ultra competitive in the little mini league that were in.
QPR are third bottom and 11 points of the play offs, how is that not wide open? Anyone QPR upwards could make a run and hit the playoffs.
They could, but with only effectively 2 spots to play for there's limited chance of success. Like if you say all but 6 teams 8n the division are effectively fighting for 2 playoff spots, that is a lot of relatively evenly matched teams in an ultra competitive situation. Most contenders won't succeed.
ITs time for LR to have faith in some of the younger brigade... If you're good enough your old enough... Jarvis left wing maybe... many here were saying h would be a starter before Philo arrived...
I still think Ipswich will fall away, I don’t think they can maintain what they have done and if they start losing players/their manager, then they’re stuffed. I also think Southampton are prone to being poached, can’t see KWP being there at the end of the window.
Ipswich would need to drop off considerably to be out of the top 6 running. They could go on a bad run and still be in the mix by virtue of what they've done so far. Not that here's much sign of that at the moment, in fact they've re established form after a couple of dodgy results a few games back, suggesting there's at least some resilience there.
It's clearly been a strategy of recruitment to focus on young talented players who are likely to develop as opposed to already established and experienced players with limited sell on scope. We have FFP constraints to deal with and it's a strategy they're seemingly following with the bulk of decent fees paid. That said if there's a loan or free that would add experience for not huge outlay if could be beneficial to the existing young group. Saw the Josh King and Ryan Kent loan links and noticed they're perhaps more experienced than what we have, so if there's anything in those it might already be a consideration for Jan.
