Supcon, remember assholes ? Well, your opinion differs from the vast majority of City fans. Probably only JL, Tinnion and a few others who actually share your opinion of Pearson. Should the results go against LM then I disagree with you again, the fans who attend AG will turn the atmosphere toxic. I won't be one of them criticising LM - my angst will be pointed directly at Jon Lansdown.
I clearly said end of Jan is the calling point-i will stick by it-however what i see so far not impressed-players are a fraction of what they were under Nige.
Bollocks, name one game this season you’ve thought we were great? And no excuses saying he was tied behind financial stuff.
He has the same squad as Nige had, player for player, and as a unit, to me at least, they aren’t performing as well under LM. He’s obviously trying to install a new system so needs a bit longer, but he needs to start getting results fairly quickly or else the fans will turn against him. We are a fickle bunch and will soon forget how Nige was got rid of against our will, IF WE START WINNING GAMES, but if we don’t things could go sour very quickly. I know he’d like to play a different way but surely he’d be better introducing it more slowly, and playing to the strengths of the players already here for now.
On paper we have the hardest 11 games coming up, my original forcast for end of season had this next 10 games [ after Huddersfield ] just gaining 9 points. I rerun it slightly modified [new manager and 4 team adjustments ] and it came out at 13 pts. The way it is going we could finish [ old system ] in 19th position! ... would NP HAVE FINISHED THAT LOW? I doubt it, wrong to be rid of? maybe yes .. confidence in CF running team for time to allow NP a month off.. maybe 2 to get sorted physically or mentally ... I dont think the board did have it, so option was to press restart button!
In NP's last 2 games our line up was inferior due to injury when compared to LM first 4 games. We even had 17year olds on the bench.
True, but I think too many City fans were seduced by the 'big' name that Nigel Pearsons came with. Same with the pundits, who effectively said, "how dare little ol Brizzle sack a manager of Pearsons experience". For the board, and those that aren't seduced, the football is no better, the league positions are worse, and from what was posted a few weeks back (by Wiz), our financial position at the of the 21/22 season, was a long way from the rosy picture the luvee's paint of NP turning around our finances. I don't blame NP for our failure, anymore than I blame LJ, DH, or inevitably LM, I blame the Landsdowns, they took their eye of the ball regarding the football club a few years ago, when it became all about Bristol Sport, not Bristol City.
Striker swoop: 3 transfer actions Bristol City must take in the January transfer window https://the72.co.uk/2023/12/07/stri...ity-must-take-in-the-january-transfer-window/ *More firepower *Exciting loans *Marquee signings
Nige stated quite clearly he felt the squad was good enough, and he didn't need more. The issue for me is, Bell, Conway and Wells are all too similar, so we don't have a different 'go to' option when they misfire.
January is traditionally not a good time to buy as prices are high and clubs are reluctant to sell mid season.
Let's be honest with ourselves and admit that City are destined to only ever be an average, at best, team in the Championship and nothing the Lansdown's have done tells us anything different. How many times have we said over the years that we just need this or that to make us a better team and as always those dots to join up the puzzle never arrived. We only seem to want to play the dangerous game of ignoring the clear facts that should tell the management we have to do better in everything we do, or risk the possible threat of relegation. Unless someone is prepared to up the ante and take the obvious shortcomings seriously by actually doing something about addressing our visible from the moon deficiencies we may as well all stay at home and watch some decent football from other places. Neither of the Lansdown family members seem to have the slightest interest in improving Bristol City by investing their money wisely and if they use the FFP as the excuse many more times I might suggest that it is being used as a reason not to invest the money needed by hiding behind a mythical demon.
Didn't see the Leeds game, but Leicester, we parked the bus, that isn't playing well. The only game we really played well this season under Nige, was Plymouth, and second half v the Jacks
