“Let”! Ha!!! Clarke is the penalty taker. If it’s 2 or 3 nil then let the striker have a go,
Not at 1 nil down
he shouldn’t be tho imo the penalty taker should be a striker

Stuart Pearce and Matt Le Tissier disagree.
Indeed, had a lot of the goal to aim for, and hit the ball more or less straight at the keeper, very poor attempt

Why wouldn't the best penalty taker be the penalty taker?

how do you know he’s the best penalty taker? Haha
We had another pen yesterday perfect opportunity for a striker to get a goal!!
Presumably he converts the most penalties in training?
He has 5 goals in 8 outings for the u21s this season, our first team strikers can't buy a goal at the minute, would you give him a chance?

If memory serves me right he used to point to where he was going to put it and the only one he ever missed was in a match in the USA where, at the time, they had the crossbar at 7ft 6in rather than 8ftFrom my youth Slim Jim Baxter took a great penalty, top corner every time, can’t remember him ever missing.
It was ridiculous to give him that shirt - not that we are ****fest fanatical about that number like a certain Saudi Arabian team - but it just adds pressure to a young lad who is miles away from being ready.probably not. If our four first team strikers aren’t ready, then he definitely isn’t.
It would also have a real confidence knock on the likes of Hemir who seems to be 4th choice out of 4 anyway. Poor lad must have been buzzing to be given the number 9 shirt and then dropped after two games, seemingly irreversibly

In all honesty, if I had my way in Jan I'd do the following:
1. Sign an experienced Championship striker. No idea who, but use some of the Stewart money
2. Send Burstow back to Chelsea. Seems a great kid with a future, but it's the right player at the wrong time
3. Leave Hemir in u23s for rest of the season. Let him learn his trade and (as Mowbray has mentioned countless times) get fit. The kid clearly isn't fit enough to play senior football
4. Rusyn & Mayenda to be support/competition for the striker from Point 1
No idea mate. That's not my job.Which experienced champ striker do you think we could sign that would be effective in the way we play?
